Google Play Store frequently turns on GPS - and sometimes keeps it on Posted: 31 Jul 2016 01:06 PM PDT I am owner of a german Honor 5x (at this day still on android 5). Recently, my phone started showing me the GPS indicator when I start the Google Play Store. This does not happen all the time, but lets say in 7 out of 10 cases. Closing the Play Store sometimes also stops GPS, but sometimes it also stays on. When I go to settings and check the apps that recently used location-services, there's always "Google Play Store" on top with "very high battery consumption". Furthermore, if I open the app details it shows me that it e.g. right now used GPS for more than 1h. My girlfriend also has a 5x. However, on her phone I cannot observe the same behavior. Do you have any ideas what the reason could be and how I can eliminate it? |
Posted: 31 Jul 2016 01:02 PM PDT Hey guys, I recently had my settings open and accidently un-clicked the automatic time zone update option in my android. For some odd reason, it will not recognize my time zone (Toronto Canada EST) nor can I manually choose to find it anymore?? Even after I manually change the time back my phone is 3 hours behind in all of my frequently used apps (Instagram, Skype, Twitter, FB, Snapchat etc) which causes alot of confusing issues for posts and connecting with my media base. Things to keep in mind. - I re-installed all apps. - I recently disconnected my number so I not with a network PLEASE HELP! Emerson |
Posted: 31 Jul 2016 01:01 PM PDT I know Verizon has the annual upgrade device plan for iPhones and Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7e, but does anyone know if they've added the Droid Z and Z Force to that list? |
Samsung s7 contact has multiple phone numbers. How do you delete a phone number? Posted: 31 Jul 2016 01:00 PM PDT I have a contact with 4 phone numbers. She no longer has 3 of those numbers. When you touch "edit" only the default number shows. I have even tried designating one of the bad numbers as default, but when I then go to "edit" the correct phone number appears, not the one I just designated as default that I want to delete. |
Good quality audio recording accessory for Android Posted: 31 Jul 2016 12:55 PM PDT I need filming things , I am happy with video quality of my Galaxy s6 but not the audio, so I am asking for a solution. A microphone ( preferably wireless) or any other solution that provides a good sound quality in indoor and outdoor and does not costs more that 100 dollars. *I know that i can record the video with phone and record the sound with something like Samson Go Mic in computer and the re-synchronise the audio but it is too complicated.* |
Durability Video of the Moto Z Posted: 31 Jul 2016 12:50 PM PDT In case anyone is interested. Here's a good video showing the durability of the phone. I assume the Moto Z Force is the same. |
Posted: 31 Jul 2016 12:48 PM PDT Here's a video of the durability of the Moto Z. Very surprising and great video. Glad to see the Moto Z holds it own. |
Z Works with Magnetic Car Holder Posted: 31 Jul 2016 12:46 PM PDT I have a magnetic car mount that mounts in the CD tray. The steel back of the Z or Z Force allows a firm hold without using the magnetic glued on strips. |
Smartphone type device with no data? Posted: 31 Jul 2016 12:40 PM PDT I know most carriers require a data plan to activate a smartphone. Is there a way to activate a smartphone without data or are the smartphones that work with wifi only and can make calls? Thank you in advance. Sorry if this was posted already. Where to purchase, does it matter? Posted: 31 Jul 2016 12:37 PM PDT After struggling with my GS5 for the past year due to: -inability to clear storage due to mysterious Miscellaneous files taking up 2GB though I clear most and the top one is 49 MB -pictures taking 10 seconds to snap -phone freezing -fast battery drain -having to re-move my apps to the SD card every time there is an update. One at a time. This is the most frustrating thing about this device (hope it isn't so on the Edge) I have searched and addressed what I can but I'm done with this phone and am most likely getting the Edge 7 (had a galaxy phone since the first one - Captivate) That being said, I was wondering if it makes a difference where I purchase. I'm ATT and I'm new to the Next plan, which is what they all are. And I'm eligible for an upgrade obviously. Target, Best Buy, ATT store...does it make a difference? I know they each have perks from time to time...but that notwithstanding, I'm guessing my bill will all be the same depending on which Next plan I choose...that's a constant, right? Any leanings towards any store (or even online through ATT for that matter) amongst you guys? Or... does it not matter. I know I'm asking a pretty obvious question but wanted to make sure I covered my bases. I'm not sure which Next plan to do, if I can swing a down payment, that'd be better. Not sure if that varies as 'perks' either between the stores. Thanks in advance, John |
Posted: 31 Jul 2016 12:35 PM PDT I have a new phone, Samsungs Galaxy J7, with Android 6.01 I have read a lot of threads about backup, but none that really answer my questions. It is NOT rooted. Here are some things that DON"T need backed up--contacts, calendar, e-mail messages, etc. Because I have an Exchange account (also Gmail Imap account), and those items will sync from there. I also would not need a backup app for photos, music, etc. Photos are files on my SD card that I can easily copy to the computer. Music files are first on my computer, that I transfer to the SD card. No need for a backup app for that. Apps themselves need no backup, as they can always get re-downloaded from the app store, and frequently update anyhow. What I need backup for, is what will not sync from Exchange nor Imap, nor files that can be copied from and to the computer. Mostly settings--the general phone and Android settings, home screens, accounts, etc. (So that if something goes wrong with the phone and all that is lost, I would not have to spend hours setting it all up from scratch, entering account info again, etc. Also helpful-settings for apps. I installed the Helium app, that reviews say is a good backup app (free version). I do not find it very useful. I have no idea why it makes you connect to the computer, then initiate its desktop app, just to verify the app somehow? But then, it will not backup to the computer! Nor even to the SD card. It does have an option to backup to the cloud with the pro version, but I would rather backup locally. It only backs up to internal phone memory. What use is that if the phone gets messed up and that backup is no longer in internal memory? Furthermore, I see in Helium no way to backup phone settings, account into, etc. It can backup apps, or only app data. So I backed up the app data, went to a folder in internal memory called Carbon, and I copied that folder to the SD card and external HDD. Yet I do not find that very helpful. I see that in the OS Settings that Google automatically backs up settings, etc., to one's Google Cloud account. OK. That's good. But I see no way to restore. Only that when one reinstalls an app, it will automatically reinsall the settings for that app. That's good. Perhaps no use for the app settings backup from Helium then. But what if something goes wrong on the phone and my homescreens get messed up? How would automatic restore help that? It is good if Google is automatically saving all my phone settings to the cloud. But if I have no way to manually restore them, what use is that? (Perhaps would work for app settings, as described, but not for phone and OS settings, accounts, etc.) Could anyone tell me, is there a way to backup the info as I dscribed above, either through an internal feature, or with an external app (that does not requrie root), so that if the phone gets messed up somehow i can quickly and easily restore it to how it was? (Surprised that Android does not have a feature like System restore in Windows.) Thank you in advance for any suggestions. |
Can I put a Sprint SIM card in an internationally unlocked GSM phone and have it work? (Note 4) Posted: 31 Jul 2016 12:32 PM PDT I'm currently a Sprint customer and I've learned that they use CDMA for their service, which is not compatible outside the United States. Since I am deploying overseas, I want to know if I am able to buy an international version of my favorite phone, the Note 4, and then place the SIM card that is in my current phone into that one and use my Sprint service while I'm in the United States, and then insert a local carrier SIM for wherever I am deployed. While I am deployed, Sprint can suspend my phone plan until I am back stateside, so I think it would be convenient to just have one phone that I can swap the SIM card in for Sprint stateside and the SIM overseas. If this is not the case, if anyone could direct me to a way to do this or an easier way, that would be greatly appreciated. |
How do I send text messages to email Posted: 31 Jul 2016 12:25 PM PDT I have a Verizon Galaxy S6. I need to print a conversation thread so I need to send it to my email address so I can print it... How do I do this? |
