Phone rings, VM notificatipns, but no visual display to add password access Posted: 29 Aug 2016 02:19 PM PDT I can see listed voicemail notifications, but can't access keypad to enter password to connect to VM messages. Posted: 29 Aug 2016 02:16 PM PDT Is anyone using an SD card reader with there Note 7. I have trail cameras that I like to take the SD card out of the camera and upload the photos while in the woods but can not get my SD card reader to work. I was told that SD card readers do not work because of the USB-C port. Apparently most USB-C ports don't allow SD card readers to transfer files. |
Have you recommended the Honor 8 to your friends or family? Posted: 29 Aug 2016 02:13 PM PDT A friend of mine was looking for a phone in the $400 range, I recommended him the Honor 8 or Axon 7. What about you? Did you recommend this phone to anyone? |
Test to see if camera is working right? Posted: 29 Aug 2016 02:13 PM PDT I've not been impressed with the camera. Recent I took a picture of someone with my phone and sent it to them. They actually complained about the quality. I thought it was just me being too harsh. She gave me better comments with the note 4. Now I know text pictures futher degrades them. But I can't even get this thing to auto focus on what I'm trying to select. It seems to instead attempt to capture whoever was the most close to me. I tried to capture a mom and young daughter. The camera claimed to lock on both faces but it never did. One face was always out of focus and sometimes both were. I'm wondering if my lens is decentered. |
Pokémon Go Eternal In-game Loading Posted: 29 Aug 2016 02:04 PM PDT So this is a common occurrence that is well known. I'm just looking to see if anyone has found a (better) way to fix this yet. Here's the issue: The white loading pokéball that won't go away. Usually happens when opening the game again after a few hours. The store won't be available, no Pokémon will spawn and the tracking won't update. The only fix I know of is to close the app and re-open it. The game has been out for over a month with a few patches under its belt now; I have trouble beveling this is still an issue. Is there something obvious I"m missing? Only app on my device I have to close and reopen just to use. Apologies if this was already posted. I couldn't find anything on it. |
Is battery a moot point at the end of the day? Posted: 29 Aug 2016 02:04 PM PDT I had worried about it for some time. My experience on the Note 5 was less than stellar. My iPhone 6+ gave me 12-14 hours consistently and was the biggest factor I went to it. Yes iOS has good apps. Things run smooth etc. So when I moved to it I missed the spen a lot and the overall ability to customize the phone the way I want it. To me iPhone is for those who just don't want to mess with things. Who don't really care too much about "tech" overall but just want something out of the box they don't need to mess with. My kids. My wife. The professional that doesn't care about all the bells and whistles. I'm not any of those. I love tech. I'm an addict. But battery meant 90% to me in my decision to leave to iPhone. Now I cannot get 12-14 hours on one charge. But in the end do I really "need" to go all day every day on 1 charge? I added it all up and the answer I have concluded is NOPE. I think SOT and ability to go without charging in a say is psychological. It really is. Why? Fast charge. Because at the end of the day I am near a charger 90% of my time when working. When traveling I'm in my car. Got my fast charging car charger. In a meeting? Fast charging wall charger. At home? Yeah. Obviously. This past week with this device I have been on the go. I was flying to Chicago. A 2.5 hour flight for me. When I landed I had my car charger with me for the rental car. Didn't even need it until around 430pm and I was still at 30% but I like my phones at 50% or more. Call me crazy but it's a psychological thing to see it go under 50%. But with rapid charge I took it from 30% to 80% on my drive to hotel in 35 minutes and didn't even think twice when I went out for dinner with colleagues. So in essence I was worried about nothing. Who cares if I have to put it on a charge for 20-30 minutes when I can get another 40-50% charge on it or in reality another 5-6 hours of life in that short period of time. Battery and SOT is really psychological. To me anyway. I suspect that if people started thinking this way vs worried about what it can get on one charge every day it wouldn't be as big a deal as everyone says AND you can actually ENJOY using that $850 pocket computer. And I bought a charging brick from Samsung so if I am not near a wall charger or cannot top off (after long day and hurrying to airport and I forget to charge up) I have that peace of mind. Haven't even used it. Ever. Yet. |
Verizon offering 50 percent off mods and cases Posted: 29 Aug 2016 02:02 PM PDT Noticed it on the Verizon website today. Buy one mod, get 50 percent off all others. Same with cases. |
Posted: 29 Aug 2016 01:56 PM PDT I have a new nexus 6. Came with 5.1 installed. I updated it and it is now running 7 Beta. Found Something unusual today in the settings menu - - under Google settings it has a section called Chimera Modules. Checked another Nexus 6 that I have running the same beta and Chimera modules is not there. Anyone have any idea what this Is? Both have the same beta versions. |
Email notification without vibration Posted: 29 Aug 2016 01:48 PM PDT Hi - on my Note 4 I was set up so that I would get visual notification of email in status bar, but no vibration. This with phone still set to vibrate for Calls and SMS. Can't figure out how to do that on Note 7 to just get the visual email notifications. I tried turning off Email Notifications in Settings but as you might expect that stopped the visual notification as well as the vibration. Thanks in anticipation :-) |
Posted: 29 Aug 2016 01:44 PM PDT According to Droid Life, the Moto Z's first update is rolling out. Sounds like it's mainly security patches. I checked on my Zf, and it didn't see the update as available yet. Quote: The updates are arriving as build MCL24.246-36 and weigh in at about 436MB. Quote: As for what's new, well, they don't really say much other than they provide "enhancements, improvements and the latest Android security updates." Of course, "latest" isn't really correct in the security department since this update only provides the July security patch. Keep in mind that we are almost in September, so within days this phone will already be two months behind in patches. |
My case keeps peeling up my screen protector Posted: 29 Aug 2016 01:43 PM PDT I have a Zagg screen protector on my phone. I have tried a caseology, an incipio, and some other case I got from Best Buy, and all 3 of them cause the screen protector to peel up. I'm looking for any suggestions on a case that is thin enough for the wireless charging to work, but doesn't cause the protector to peel up. |
why does my battery look puffed out? Posted: 29 Aug 2016 01:41 PM PDT I opened the back of my phone because it keeps shutting off and the battery looks fatter then it did (last time I checked my battery it was very slim feeling) |
