Sprint Galaxy S5 stuck at Sprint Spark

Posted: 01 Sep 2016 12:50 PM PDT

Hello,
Hope someone is able to help

I have a Galaxy S5, and it currently stuck at the Sprint spark screen. It had been running slow, so I attempted a factory reset, but now it's stuck.

I would actually like to try cyanogen on it.

I can get into download mode, but not sure what I need to do from there.

Shattershield worries me

Posted: 01 Sep 2016 12:46 PM PDT

I have a Turbo and did not move to the Turbo 2 because of my fear of the ShatterShield tech. Everything I have read indicates that the top layer of the screen is plastic and scratches easily. My Turbo is naked and has never been scratched. I feel that it is odd to expect to put a glass screen protector on top of the ShatterShield tech just to stop it from scratching.

I am hoping for some real life usage tales. If I keep the phone in my pocket (sans keys) would I have issues? Is the top plastic layer not as smooth as glass?

Attractive Mid-Ranger

Posted: 01 Sep 2016 12:19 PM PDT

The A9 was, and indeed still is, an undeniably good-looking device, and that had been maintained in this simpler version, with reduced specs which ought nevertheless to be perfectly adequate for a mid-range device. As long as HTC does not pitch the price too high, as arguably they did on the A9, this could be a good seller.

Can't reset Tab 3 Kids

Posted: 01 Sep 2016 12:17 PM PDT

I've searched EVERYWHERE and am stumped!!

Don't know the account on the device. It's currently locked in kids mode. I'm trying to reset to factory settings. However, when I press Power+Volume Up+Home, the Samsung logo appears, goes away, then appears again and the device powers off. If I let go of the power button at any time, the device just does a reboot. I've watched videos of people only using Power+Volume Up, some letting go of Power once the first logo appears. I've tried literally everything and cannot figure out how to get to the reset screen with the Android dude on it so I can reset.

Please help!!!

Axon 7 Mini - the 5.2" Version

Posted: 01 Sep 2016 12:10 PM PDT

Not perhaps entirely deserving of the term 'Mini', this will nevertheless be a welcome alternative to the full-size model for the smaller-handed user. Small bezels keep the overall size on the low side.

Travelling around the world with an HTC One M8, wipe or don't wipe?

Posted: 01 Sep 2016 12:09 PM PDT

Hi all, a preemptive thanks for reading- I am about to leave on a year long trip throughout Asia and Europe. I am cancelling all phone service I have with Verizon as I am out of contract and their service suspension is a joke (3 months max, and you still have to pay $10 a month). I'm planning on porting my number over to Google Voice, but once service is gone I'm not sure of my next move yet.

Background: Device is an HTC One M8, purchased almost right when it came out 2.5 years ago. Great device out of the box, but since has become rather sluggish (expected). I'm not proclaiming to be an Android power user, but I'm not a tech moron either- I've tried to keep it decently clean over the years.

I have three options as I see it:

1) Leave it as is- clean up some of the junk apps and other things, but otherwise don't do anything else to it. Deal with the poor performance and (IMO) increasingly bad UI, but have assurance that things generally will continue to work as they currently do.

2) Wipe and factory reset, and disable all updates. Brings me back to the day I purchased it, but concerned that apps will want the latest version of Android.

3) Wipe and root and go the full homebrew route with something like CyanogenMod, etc... No guarantee the apps I want will work at all.

My priorities for this trip are:

- Google Translate (offline)
- Google Maps (offline)
- Battery life
- Performance

I guess my biggest question is- will Translate and Maps run on older versions of Android and/or on rooted phones, or do I need to suck it up and keep current despite the cruft that's accumulated over the years?

Thanks again all, and please set me straight if any of my assumptions or ideas are flat out wrong- this is my first smartphone :P

Galaxy Core prime cycling on and off by itself

Posted: 01 Sep 2016 12:05 PM PDT

The phone started turning off during phone calls and while reading from Kindle or using anything on the phone. Then it reboots itself. Sometimes before this it says
that the process system has stopped working and asks if I want to wait or stop. Does not seem to matter. Phone is constantly cycling on and off. Called Samsung. They said it was not under warranty. It is 2 months since I bought it. They said I would have to send it in and pay for them to look at it. They had no idea what was wrong. I hung up. This was after a 20 minute wait for a "support" person. Can anyone help me? I really need the phone to work and I don't have the funds to buy another one for at least a month.

X Compact

Posted: 01 Sep 2016 12:04 PM PDT

Android users who prefer a small device which at the same time is of high quality and spec will know how poor the choice has been in recent years. Sony has been one of the go-to manufacturers with their Xperia Z Compact series, and they've done it again with this model.

Why won't my HTC One M8 backup to HTC Sync?

Posted: 01 Sep 2016 11:58 AM PDT

I've tried just about everything... as well as contacting HTC many times.

My phone will not backup to HTC Sync. Everything is updated properly. I'm using Avast Antivirus, and I've tried disabling all settings while attempting to backup my phone, yet still no luck.

HTC Support has not helped at all. :( I am concerned because sometimes my phone is glitchy and I really don't want to lose anything. Also, I'm past warranty time.

I was able to upload music files from my computer to my phone as well as delete them; however, today when I did this, it all froze and then deleted all of my existing music files OFF of my phone!!!

What is going on here? I'd like to emphasize my biggest concern though... which is definitely the backup issue!

Please, anyone who has any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Folder shapes for Nova, a little confusing.

Posted: 01 Sep 2016 11:52 AM PDT

I don't understand how I am supposed to customize the shape of my folders in Nova Launcher:

1- What is the (max, minimum) size/resolution the icon/shape is supposed to have ?;

2- What file format is the shape supposed to be ? (jpg, png or what ?);

3- Do I need to add anything to it ? (transparecy, etc...).

There are no tutorials or any explanation in Nova, regarding all of this.

Also, just so I don't need to open a new thread for this other question:

Are there any official websites for themes (for Nova Launcher) ?

Thanks in advance.

Why does my screen remain black but everything else still works?

Posted: 01 Sep 2016 11:52 AM PDT

I dropped my phone from desk height and shortly after my screen turned black but all the lights, vibrations, and sounds still work. I can actually feel myself unlock my phone but the screen will not come one. I have turned it on and off numerous times while holding sound and home button but to no avail.
