My phone talks when I do not want it to Posted: 13 Sep 2016 01:41 PM PDT My Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Verizon, has taken to announcing the time on the half hour and also announcing the charge left when I plug it in to the charger or unplug it. It seems to be in the Samsung voice. I can't find any setting or app that is causing this. |
nfc always on, notification bar not working, navigation bar not working Posted: 13 Sep 2016 01:41 PM PDT Basically what it says in the Title. Every time I try to turn NFC off in the settings, it turns back on again. The notification bar slides down but only reveals time, settings and a Pencil Icon. The navigation bar responds with the "click" sound, but only the back button works. What is wrong with my phone? |

My S7 stuck in odin mode... Could a faulty battery cause that? Posted: 13 Sep 2016 01:30 PM PDT I have a rather weird problem and I'm not sure if I should trust the guys I brought my phone into. Basically it started when i came home. I plugged my phone into charger when it was at about 12% battery. When i came back 2 hours later it has the light blue screen Downloading do not turn off target. ( I never rooted my phone or anything) I tried to restart etc using home, power and volume down. Then volume down to decline OS update and it would keep going back to the download mode. I tried to connect it to my pc while in the mode but PC only recognized a usb device was plugged in. Anyway I brought it to the shop. While going there i assumed the battery died. We plugged it in and the charging indicator didn't show it was charging (battery image animation just stayed still)....When they first looked at the phone they told me dead battery and I explained the original issue and brought the phone back to the odin mode using home, power and volume down. Anyway....long story short....They think its a battery and software problem but the battery thing sounds fishy to me. A couple questions: Will a S7 in Odin mode still show the actual charging animations after it has ran out of power? Any other ideas? |
Apple watch series 2 vs Current android wear contenders Posted: 13 Sep 2016 01:22 PM PDT So I have used android phones for as long as I have used a smart phone (about 10 years now). I use apple computers but I have never opted for the iPhone. I am neither an iPhone lover or hater, I have just preferred android for myself. I have been looking for a reason to get a smart watch but they have all fallen short (including the first gen apple watches). I have used the Fitbit surge for the last 8 months or so and I like it but it is not really a smart watch. What I wanted in a smart watch: 1) stand alone gps for run/hike tracking 2) able to swim in it/water resistant 3) pair with phone for call and text notifications. (I do not want my watch to have a separate phone number/pay for ANOTHER device on my cell plan) 4) simple texting from the device (when paired with the phone) 5) able to hold a portion of playlists on the phone for playing through a headphone separate from the phone (i.e. I can leave my phone at home and listen to music from my watch). 6) good voice activation/controls 7) good battery life The new apple watch seems to hit almost all of these, except of course I would have to switch to an iPhone which I do not want to do. Also as far as I can tell if you are not actively paired with your phone you loose all voice activation/command options. I am not going to be switching to a new phone for at least 6-9 months. Am I missing an android wear watch out there that does what I want and isn't apple? Thx -spg |

Posted: 13 Sep 2016 01:12 PM PDT Interested in this phone but two things are deal breakers so far, ambient display and double tap to wake. I'm a fan of rooting for Xposed mods so I'd like to know if current owners have found satisfactory workarounds for these two "features", rooted or stock? |
