Android Pay Now Needs Backup Password at POS in Android 6.0.1

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:59 PM PDT

I recently updated my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 to Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow), and now Android Pay requires me to enter my backup password for unlocking the screen whenever I use it at a point of service, even if my phone is already unlocked. Previously, I only needed to unlock my phone, and Android Pay would work without needing any further credentials. How can I get it back to operating that way?

US Carriers - User data use (mobile vs. Wifi)

S5 won't connect to laptop:(

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:58 PM PDT

I have two S5 (G900F) phones; A factory unlocked and an unlocked by O2.
I can't get any PC or laptop to 'see' the factory unlocked model any more. The cable is a data cable, as the usual options work when plugging in the other phone.
Not only does Windows fail to see it, but the phone also does not show the drag down screen for usb connections after connecting.
I've tried the usb debugging setting in Dev options.
Please can anyone help?

Unfortunately Launcher has stopped working

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:47 PM PDT

Okay, my stepdaughter did a system update on her ZTE phone. After the update finished an error message keeps popping up saying "Unfortunately Launcher has stopped working" When she presses okay this error message continues to pop up, she can't access anything. By the way she didn't do any other updates on her phone; like firmware update, etc. The only way she can access settings is pulling down the screen from top and hitting the settings icon. She went apps, clicked on Launcher and cleared her data & cache. That didn't help. She accessed the hidden menu (when you press/hold down volume button and hitting power button) and cleared phone cache, didn't help. What else can she try??? She really doesn't want to do a factory reset because she will lose all her photos, she doesn't have an SD card. She has to a Wifi signal from our library to be able to connect by the way. Please someone help!!!

Finally got mine, initial impressions

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:41 PM PDT

My black Honor 8 is now in hand. Been getting apps downloaded, settings configured. Initial impressions:

1. For the size, it feels very solid. I'm coming from a Nexus 5x (was starting to have major heating issues and some problems), and the Honor 8 is a bit heavier with a great in-hand feel.

2. Setup was quick and easy, as should be expected.

3. The look... What can I say that hasn't already been said. This phone is visually a work of art.

4. Everything runs smoothly on it.

I'm going to enjoy the honeymoon period with this phone, but I think it's going to be a great daily driver.

Project Tango speculation

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:39 PM PDT

So there is that weird panel on the back on the renders of the Pixel phones. I think we are going to see project tango come Oct 4 as well. The chip sets support both Daydream and Project Tango. There was already speculation about it and an article written about how well they would work together. I think we are getting a look at a unicorn come this unveiling.

For those who are not as excited at this possibility as me, think about Pokémon go but in VR.

"Unfortunately phone has stopped"

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:39 PM PDT

Galaxy s5. Whenever I have ANY application open and I receive a call, I get the message: "Unfortunately phone has stopped"! And the ONLY way to get out of it is to restart my phone in between pressing "ok" on the message and pressing "restart phone" before the message reappears. It just started happening. Nothing was added or removed from phone! It does NOT happen when I'm am not in any application. (I've emptied all caches, and it still happens)

Do adjacent android devices tend to import/export information w/o commands??

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:33 PM PDT

I have had an android phone (4.4.2 OS) for sometime, and recently I purchased a new android tablet (5.0.1 OS). A couple of days ago, I installed a media player app and some songs on to the tablet. Later on in the day, I noticed that the same media player app was showing up on my phone. Could I have "sync" something and not realized it, or do android devices automatically operate this way? Thanks.

When will Marshmallow (6.0.1) Be Coming to The Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (WiFi US)

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:33 PM PDT

I have been keeping up with the latest news about this update. Supposedly the Galaxy Tab 8.4 WiFi US version has received it, but now I'm sitting here wondering have they forgotten about the 10 inch one? I mean there's been no news no hints no anything about when/ if it's next in line for it. Surely they don't intend to just update the 8 inch version and call it a day do they? I know Samsung is deplorable when it comes to updating their devices anyway, but seriously' come on now. Would anyone happen to have any inside info about this? are we waiting in vain? I have the 10.5 myself, and I have been anticipating this new firmware for the longest, mostly for the possible needed tweaks and fixes that will come with it.

Can you create a calender entry from Gmail "mobile"?

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:23 PM PDT

Is there a way to create a calender entry from Gmail "mobile" to your Google calender? Without a series of copy and paste and switching back and forth between the two.

It would make since to me that you would be able to read an email and have an option to create a calender reminder or event.

Or is there a widget available that would be able to complete this task?

Why does my home wifi only work on certain apps?

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:19 PM PDT

My LG Stylo 2 plus (T-Mobile) can connect to my home wifi and it says im connected. However, chrome, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, etc does not. I can run speed test and I get my normal results. I can also use SoundCloud and Skype. I've tried forgetting the network, resetting my router, rebooting my phone, pretty much everything everyone has said and no luck yet. I can connect to other networks perfectly fine, it's just my home network.

Send emoji as sms and not mms

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:14 PM PDT

I live in the UK and am using Texra to send and revieve SMS and MMS. I would like to be able to send emoji's on my LG G4 as sms and NOT mms (costing me money for each emoji). Does anybody know what setting and where it would be (hopefully there is a setting to change that stops the phone changing a SMS message with an emoji to a MMS message.

Any help would be great.

Many thanks

Nik

Why is my note 4 still receiving text messages from some people when it has no SIM card in it?

Posted: 17 Sep 2016 01:02 PM PDT

I recently changed phones and I am no longer using my note 4. I just keep it on to occasionally use it to watch YouTube videos using the wi-fi at home. Sometimes I go for a few days without using it and when I do use it I see it has text messages from people. Anyone have any idea how to stop that?
