Nexus 5 turns on and inbetween boot up and home screen, shuts off at random times Posted: 03 Nov 2016 01:38 PM PDT The phone appears to turn on normally and at cold boot it manages to go to the home screen. I can be there for a few seconds, then it'll randomly decide to shut off. I'm not sure but the temperature seems high closest to the CPU and screen feels hot to the touch when trying to keep it on. Should I plug in a brand new oem battery? I have a knock off battery and it worked fine on my other phone except the capacity was much lower. I thought it might be temperature related so I tried making an aluminium heat sink and thermal paste for the cpu, but nothing changed. I will link to video in a bit. Also the only way the phone responds after is by plugging in the phone cable to any power source as if the battery was taken out. Don't judge the vertical framing it just happened. I tried to replicate it again all normal like and the phone stops at the 4 color dots and the phone shuts down as if the battery was removed. It doesn't respond until plugged into usb power. |
Posted: 03 Nov 2016 01:34 PM PDT I was a die hard Moto X (OG) owner until I purchased the Nexus 6P since last January. The 6P is a great phone. My only issues with it is battery life and size. The battery decent but will barely make it through the day with moderate use. It's also very hard to use one handed. I've read that the Moto Z Play has great battery life but a lot of reviews talk down the processor and screen. Are they really an issue? I do some moderate gaming on the phone and occasionally read a book using the kindle app. Other then on some of the official reviews, no one seems to finding performance or display to be problematic. Are there any issues? |

Samsung GS5 Bad Battery or Hard Bricked? Help! Posted: 03 Nov 2016 01:22 PM PDT My Samsung GS 5 was functioning fine last night, was plugged in to a charger, and it just died. It just shut off and wouldn't turn on. I just downloaded last night a very simple launcher from Google Play called Evie and 2 icon packs from a graphic designer, all seemingly 'very legit' from the Google Play store. I have never messed with rooting or any other custom app before. I've tried taking out the battery and sim card and plugged it into my MacBook (I do not have a PC only a MacBook Pro. Not sure if this is relevant.) I get no response from the buttons. No blue light. I even held down the volume button, but I don't really understand how it's supposed to launch 'recovery mode'. Help?! I just need to get my important files off of this phone. Thanks! |

Why do I have to enable mobile data to down/upload picture messages? Posted: 03 Nov 2016 01:11 PM PDT LG G5 on Wind, using default LG messenger app, my last phone was HTC M8 which had full msg functionality on my home wifi, several enquiries to carrier got nothing, I keep my mobile data off by default |
Why won't my phone download apps? Posted: 03 Nov 2016 01:11 PM PDT After an update my phone wouldn't download, any ideas why? All my apps were gone |
Unlocking bootloader frustration Posted: 03 Nov 2016 01:04 PM PDT Basically my phone stops being recognized by the computer once I reboot into the bootloader. To be clear, the phone is recognized just fine and shows up when I type 'adb devices' when the phone is operating in the android os. Seeing that all is well there, I proceed to 'adb reboot bootloader' and it appropriately reboots to the white screen with the android on it. But there the problems begin: It reads on the screen: FASTBOOT&RESCUE MODE Please Connect Usb Cable to Your Computer and Open Hisuite More information: the huawei website Then it displays the droid Then it says: Phone Locked FRP Unlock I tried going ahead and running 'fastboot oem unlock ###...' but it just sits there waiting for a device to be connected. I have tried multiple USB drivers on my 2 windows 10 computers. I have removed all drivers using USBdeview and tried different drivers. Windows will not allow me to point to manualy choose my driver, instead saying, 'The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with windows for x64-based systems.' So I tried it on an old 32-bit windows 7 system. No joy. I've tried multiple USB cords and ports. In windows device manager it has the device labeled as 'Kedacom USB Device' -> 'Android Bootloader Interface'. I can't figure out what's going wrong other than to say it seems that Windows is not using the correct driver once it enters the bootloader. PLEASE HELP!!! |
With Nougat, how do you customize "Do Not Disturb" mode? Posted: 03 Nov 2016 01:02 PM PDT I have the LG V20 phone with the Nougat operating system. On my old Samsung Galaxy S5, I had a scheduled Do Not Disturb mode that silenced all notifications but still allowed me to play music while in bed or to listen to an audiobook. Now, with this operating system, even though there is the illusion of customization, when my scheduled DND mode turns on, I can't play any audio at all, even with it in priority mode vs total silence. I have to manually turn off DND, then turn it back on when I am finished listening to my book, which for some reason bypasses the schedule and stays on until I remember to disable it the next day. Is there a way to customize DND that I am missing, or is Nougat just lousy? |

Notification issue with Google voice Posted: 03 Nov 2016 12:57 PM PDT I use Google voice. When I get a new voice mail, even though I delete it, have a persistent notification from Phone services. I can get rid of it by forcing phone services to stop, but that's not how it's supposed to work. Anyone? |
