Google live case pics and first impressions Posted: 05 Nov 2016 01:56 PM PDT So got the live case from Google delivered today. I used the places cases and first impression is pretty good. The case is minimal and feels good in the hand. Way better compared to official silicone case which I returned. I have a tech 21 eco check case, have a SPIGEN crystal shell case incoming and was planning to return the live case on receiving. But after using it for a few hours think I'm going to keep it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Can only play stations and saved playlists from Google play Posted: 05 Nov 2016 01:46 PM PDT I was confused last night while putting my new Google Home through its paces. I linked my Google play music account and made a few test commands. Mainly artists, and every time it said it couldn't find that in my music library but here's a similiar station. Does the same thing for albums and songs. It does work with a saved playlists for whatever reason. I chatted with google support and they said that functionality is only available if you pay for Google all access which makes no sense what so ever. I own all this music and can't play it by voice command?! Only work around is to cast directly from my phone to the Google home. But that defeats the whole purpose of this thing being able to play my voice request. I told google people are going to be pissed when they find this out and they said they would pass it along. Other then that I really like it, kids love it! Just waiting for my home automation hub (mi casa Verde) to be supported and I'll be really happy! |
Where is the hidden menu on a LG K7? Posted: 05 Nov 2016 01:44 PM PDT Hidden menu on a LG K7? |
Posted: 05 Nov 2016 01:36 PM PDT Have seen this with other phones, and lots of workarounds- none of which work on the Honor. When taking a video on Snapchat, the video automatically zooms in just enough to look wrong. Pictures on both cameras work just fine. I have tried:
This is a great phone, but this is another reason why I need to keep around an iOS device. Apps always work better on iPhone. I don't know what else I can do. Thing is, I saw another thread talking about snapchat, and this issue wasn't mentioned. |
Posted: 05 Nov 2016 01:26 PM PDT So, I have a newer model Vizio TV monitor that has built in Cast. The TVs cast is linked to my google account andshows up in the Home app on my phone, and I can cast shows to it from my phone. But, neither of my Homes can cast anything to it, they say they have no cast enabled device available. Any idea why? Will this require some firmware update the Vizio will hopefully provide soon? |
LG G5 Action Camera anyone actually managed to get one working with phone Posted: 05 Nov 2016 01:23 PM PDT Hi has anyone actually managed to get the LG G5 to work with an action camera with WIFI capability. What I mean by this has anyone been able to view on the LG G5 what a wifi action is pointed at? I have bought from Amazon a couple of action cameras and they say install a certain app and then I should be able to see on screen what the camera see, but it won't. The LG G5 identified the presence of a wifi action camera but will not work. If anyone knows of a camera that will work with the LG G5 please could you post details? Cheers Tim |
Why is my galaxy s4 shutting off Posted: 05 Nov 2016 01:16 PM PDT I put my phone in my pocket it shuts off. I sit it on the table and my phone turns off. I know my screen is bad but I am wondering if a wire has come loose or not. |
Posted: 05 Nov 2016 01:08 PM PDT I picked mine up from T-Mobile yesterday. To give an idea of my perspective, started on Android, spent time on Windows 8/8.1/10 Mobile, then back to Android on LG G4/V10, S7E, Note 7. Most recently, I've been using an iPhone 6S Plus on iOS 10. I've been an IT and Telecom guy for 30 years. Phones are kind of a hobby for me :) I don't live on my phone, but I do have it in my hand a good part of my day and use it for both work and play. I'm using the stock launcher and apps except for the keyboard. I must have my Swiftkey. Battery Life - Too early to make a final judgement, but my initial observation is giving me V10 flashbacks. Discharges very quickly but it runs cool. I'm sure it will normalize over time. Quick charge helps to ease some of that, but I think a second battery is in my future. Camera - Once I was guided (thanks to the awesome folks here) to change the settings from default to 4.3 - 16MP, things have been usable and the pictures are very nice. Not as quick to launch or focus as the S7E/N7, but much better low light than the 6S+. Unfortunately, it has taken a few deep breaths before it's started a few times, which is troubling. Video is nice, and LG has some features that I have not seen elsewhere. The ability to record video with the front and back cameras simultaneously is interesting. It was on the V10 as well, but I'm surprised it's not mentioned more because you can do some nice things with it. Performance - I'd say it's on par or slightly better in some areas than my S7E. Say what you want about LG/UX, but IMO it's better optimized than TouchWhiz, even if it is ugly. Spending a good amount of time with my favorite game (Hitman Sniper), and it launches quick, and runs smoothly. Switching between apps hasn't revealed much stalling, and video playback has been stutter free - something that I always struggled with on Samsung for some reason. Overall it feels consistent and smooth throughout, and not jumpy or over eager when scrolling through web pages or apps. Bluetooth - I have a Samsung Gear S2 Classic paired with it as well as a Fitbit Charge HR. Notifications come through fine on the S2 and the Fitbit was a non issue too. Paired my LG Tone Infinum's and they sound great. I don't use BT audio in my car, so I can't comment on that. Design - An under-noticed feature that I appreciate is the ability to rearrange and manage the home screen buttons. I'm sure this helps the Samsung folks out with that pesky back button being on the wrong side lol. I also like the thought that was put into the additional home button options. The ability to launch the notification panel from there is a very useful feature that helps make the size of the phone less of an issue. The secondary display is basically the same as the V10. I like the notification aspect of it, but don't see myself using it for much else this time either. The phone is easy to hold on to and feels surprisingly light when compared to the V10, even though it's only 18 grams lighter. Display - Display is bright and pleasant to look at. Outdoor viewing has been adequate, but nothing spectacular. I don't get too hung up on the IPS vs AMOLED argument, I like what I like regardless of the tech. The V20 display is nice, period. What I don't like – Battery life. Again, only a little while into this phone, but all indications are that I am going to be looking for a place to charge a few times a day. Poor to mediocre battery life has never been a major issue for me, but after coming from the S7E and the 6S+, I know that it can and should be better. Physical button and FPS placement. I wish LG would make up their mind. I liked the back-panel buttons on the G4 and V10. They made sense to me. Once you got used to it, it felt very natural. I'm not sold on the FPS on the back. It seems counter intuitive. Picking up the phone to use it rather than just tapping the front button to unlock is an extra step. It's also cumbersome with a case on. I realize the tap to wake is there for quick notification information, but this is my opinion. It's nitpicking for sure and easily rectified, but I don't like the look of the LG/UX much. It works well but it looks….. boring. I'm done with launchers and spending hours getting a phone just right. I'm more about the easy experience these days and often opt for the factory apps rather than third party. Less to configure, and less to hassle with when things go south. I'll take function over form any day of the week, but it would be nice if they jazzed it up a little. Comparing it to the Note 7, I can honestly say I don't miss that much. Yes, the S Pen was handy but not essential for me. The Capture Plus app can be added to the home button panel for quick launch, and allows much of the same functionality for notating and sharing screen shots. I do miss the gif creator though, I had fun with that. I don't usually spend time writing novels, and outside of Yelp, I rarely review. However, I was on the fence about this phone for quite a while, and I'm certain others are still weighing pros and cons trying to decide given the vacuum the Note 7 recall left. The more real world user opinions (to some degree anyway) that are out there, the more information they have to help that decision. Cheers |
Posted: 05 Nov 2016 01:07 PM PDT Recently I got the s7 edge and to be honest it's leaps and bounds beyond what an iphone can do. My question is, how does samsung compare to apple in the tablet market? |
Coming From Blackberry Questions Posted: 05 Nov 2016 12:59 PM PDT I have been doing a lot of reading and researching the last few weeks and it looks like Blackberry is going 100% GSM and AT&T just ain't "cutting the mustard" where I live and travel. I had to go back to Verizon. I looked at iPhone 7+, Samsung 7 Edge, HTC10 and the Z Force. While I was talking to the Verizon Rep and transferring my 2 numbers from AT&T back to Verizon, I asked her what she was using. She said she had been a Samsung girl for years but had recently gone with the Z Force. She did a great job in selling me as I started focusing in on the Z Force. Just got back from the Verizon Store where I played around with the Z Force, Samsung & Edge and iPhone 7+. I made a decision to go with the Moto Z Force. Since I have never had an Android device, I would like any suggestions as to what you would do if you were me upon receiving the phone. I read a lot about "Verizon Bloatware". I read about getting rid of the Verizon search ware and adding Google's search ware. Understand, I am ignorant and Im read so much the last few days I am tired. Do you have any advice? I'll probably do the Otterbox Commuter and some type of tempered glass protector. Of course, I have read those threads. Remember, I have ONLY used iOS and BB10 phones my entire life. I appreciate your help! |
Battery Is At 5% After 3-4 Hours Posted: 05 Nov 2016 12:56 PM PDT On My AT&T Galaxy S3 (SGH-I747) I Am At 5% Battery After 3-4 Hours. I Was Told That I Needed To Calibrate The Battery. Is This True? The Battery Is A New-ish Battery (First Used On July 9Th 2016). |

Cannot connect the phone to Honda Civic 2016 Posted: 05 Nov 2016 12:48 PM PDT Hello, I try to connect my Android phone to the Honda Civic 2016 with no success. The phone is a Moto G, the 1st gen. (2013), with Android Lollipop (5.1) and the latest Android Auto app is installed and running (the phone shows MTP for the USB connection). The car is a Honda Civic 2016 I-dtec Se Plus Navi (UK) and, according to Google (android. com) it has Android Auto, although the system states the Android version is 4.0.4. When I connect the phone, via the USB cable, to the one of the USB ports located in the central console, nothing happens. The app keeps showing the "Connect your phone to your car." message. Before posting I googled for similar issues but the results I got were more confusing. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thank you, Valentin |
Anyone seen the review of the Pixel XL then compared it to the 6p? Posted: 05 Nov 2016 12:38 PM PDT So I watched a detailed review on the Pixel XL. No doubt a nice device but please do tell me if I'm missing something major here to justify market value of the Pixel to be 300 dollars roughly more than the 6p. Okay the Pixel has one more gig of ram. Real world that's not much to tell. It has less speaker capacity. Specs cone out to be pretty close to the 6p overall and they of course have the same interface minus it having 7.1. Okay another plus for pixel. Updates quicker and for a longer time period. I'm still not seeing $300 market value difference yet. 6p has really everything one would expect from a flagship standpoint. So my question is are we seeing a loss of the powerful Nexus with flagship specs at a $399 value to be replaced by pixel which is almost twice the cost yet to get pretty much the same performance of the wonderful price of the 6p? I watched the entire review on YouTube. Is basically the 6p device tweaked a bit but since I value homes for a living and certify to data supported market value, how on earth can any data be found to support the almost $300 dollar value difference in these two devices? Unless im missing a major market speak upgrade, no data I've found or can compile would be supported on paper to substantiate such an increase on overall sales price of the Pixel XL to be that of almost double the 6p. As an appraiser when I value a home I select true comparable sales that are similar to my subject. The subject in this case is the 6p which one the marker value world you adjust to the comparable property to make it appear like the subject by extracting data from a sales analysis to derive an adjustment to get an adjusted value which is set off from its sells price or in this case the retail price of the Pixel. If you take this pixel retail and try to market adjust it to be like that of the 6p on paper, I cannot find any data that supports a $300 dollar superior to the 6p adjustment for it to have an adjusted overall sales price to almost double the 6p. I know it sounds odd but that's how you appraise property of any type. You take the comparable and adjust it by supported data to make it look as if it were the subject which in this case is the 6p. The pixel is an excellent comparable product so it's a valid comparable sale so to speak. If anyone is in the market value industry all this will make perfect sense. There is no data that suggests the Pixel to be almost double in value compared to the 6p. Thoughts anyone? |
Posted: 05 Nov 2016 12:29 PM PDT I am looking for an email app that will allow me to have 4 separate account, 3 Gmail and 1 outlook. I want to keep the accounts separate and have a different notification icon and/or color for each one. Cost doesn't matter. Thanks in advance. |
