Posted: 05 Dec 2016 02:25 PM PST The packaged Samsung earbuds are terrible. They let in too much external noise for me. I have a set of UrBeats that I got as a gift. The buttons for controlling media playback, calls, and volume don't work for some reason. Despite having worked on my S4. Anybody have any insight or recommendations? |
Posted: 05 Dec 2016 02:23 PM PST The GPS on my 626 is very unstable. No matter which app I use, Google Maps, GPS Essentials ETC I don't get a reliable fix. My Moto G, along side it gets a fix within seconds and holds it. Is there anything I can try, like doing a factory reset, or will it have to be returned to HTC for repair? |
Can I upgrade from Andriod 6.0 to 7.1.1 directly? Posted: 05 Dec 2016 02:22 PM PST Hi, I have a Nexus 5X, and am currently on Andriod 6.0, my previous phone was on Andriod 7.0 when it went into cyclic reboot and I have to replace it. So I did not upgrade to 7.0 on this new 5X, even though I got the OTA 7.0 notification. So my question is can I get the 7.1.1 OTA Directly from 6.0? Or I have to upgrade to 7.0 first then 7.1.1? Thanks |
Galaxy Tab 4 : Sound cuts off intermittently : hardware issue Posted: 05 Dec 2016 02:09 PM PST Trying to dig up rcpt in case it still under warranty, but in the mean time thought I'd post the question here as I highly suspect it is a hardware issue. More and more frequently, the sound will completely cut off. If I gently, but firmly "pinch" the lower right corner of the tablet, the sound comes back immediately and will stay on for anywhere from 2 minutes to an hour. I've cracked a Nexus 7 open before, so I an't 'fraid to dive in...just hoping perhaps someone who has experienced exactly this might give some advice on what parts, if any, it might be wise to just go ahead and be prepared to replace while it's open, related to this problem. thanks |
Calendar Invitation Badges/Notifications Posted: 05 Dec 2016 02:09 PM PST New Android user from iOS... on iOS when i was invited to a meeting/event/etc... i would receive a badge icon on my calendar to know i was invited to something. i've been on both the samsung galaxy s7 stock calendar and the google calendar, and have tried a few others, and there are no settings to show the badge icon on the app/top of screen... does anyone know a trick or different app to have this done? Thanks! |

Crackling Sound on Moto Z Play Posted: 05 Dec 2016 02:03 PM PST I bought a brand new Moto Z Play and after some days, I noticed a crackling sound (sometimes it's distorted) when hearing whatsapp voice messages. I cannot replicate this problem everytime because it is intermitent. I can hear the same voice message 10 times and it happens only once. On the worst cases, the voice message can distort as if its in slow tempo. Does anyone have the same problem with Motorola/Lenovo phones? I owned a Moto G4 and had no complaints about it. Any clues? Thanks |
Disturbing Google Account Behavior Posted: 05 Dec 2016 02:01 PM PST I noticed starting a few days ago that I have been unable to access the Google account security settings when connected to my home wifi (no problems using other wifi or mobile data). When going to that page it simply times out and says I have no data connection (which I've confirmed it's not true). Also, I cannot open Pokemon Go on my home wifi, which coincidentally uses my Google credentials to log in. But other apps/games (Clash of Clans, Google App Store) work and load just fine. That made me nervous, so today I changed my Google password. Shortly after I changed my password, I went in to the Google account security settings, which opens up a browser (Dolphin for me) and prompts me to enter my password. It does not accept my new password. Then when I click the Forgot Password option, the next screen says "Account help for xxxxxx@gmail.com", where the xxxxx's are my old password? WTF? The second issue only happens with Dolphin, when I changed my default browser it worked okay. That that is very strange, like someone has redirected my Google account into a different account. Or maybe it's just a web page glitch with how Dolphin is sending and receiving data to Google's web page, and has nothing to do with the first issue. Anyone ever had these problems? |
HTC Desire phones and Sam's Club Apps? Posted: 05 Dec 2016 01:59 PM PST First the preliminaries. I have an HTC Desire 510 phone running Android Kit-Kat 4.4.2. Not rooted. Carrier is Cricket Wireless. I've been using the regular Sam's Club app for over a year and it's worked just fine. A few months ago, I tried to install the Sam's Club "Scan and Go" app, but it said my phone was not compatible. It didn't bother me much because I still could use the regular Sam's Club app. About a month ago when I tried to use the regular app, it wanted me to update it, so I tried. Now the original regular app says that it's not compatible with my phone either, and it won't let me use the older version. As far as I remember, this is the first time any Android app I've tried to install says it isn't compatible with my phone. I figured it wasn't compatible with the older 4.4.2 version, but my brother-in-law with a Samsung 3 (I think) also running 4.4.2 says it installed on his phone just fine. Any ideas on this? Also, can anyone else with a Desire phone running 4.4.2 (particularly the 510) look at the app in the Google Play store and see if it's compatible with your phone? You don't have to install it. It should tell you when you just look it up. At least that would narrow down whether it's my phone, my carrier, or any Desire or Desire 510 phone that it won't on. TIA. |
Does superliterom allow overclocking cpu? Posted: 05 Dec 2016 01:58 PM PST Hi, I have a verizon samsung galaxy s3 running stock rom and android 4.4.2. I am only interested in overclocking this phone's cpu. I am rooted and I am no longer with verizon and i am now using a different sim. So no issues there. But in order to overclock, I would need a custom rom and/or kernel. And to flash a custom rom/kernel, I would need to unlock the bootloader on this phone, which is currently locked. I have read that trying to unlock the bootloader or downgrade the OS is a guaranteed brick on this phone. I have read that safestrap would work on this phone. However, i believe there are only a couple of roms (one of which is superliterom) that work with safestrap. My question is, does anybody know if any of the roms that work with safestrap would allow me to overclock the cpu? Thank you |

Shamu gets 7.0.0 (NBD91U) Dec 5th? WTF? Isn't Nexus 6 getting 7.1.1 today like the rest of them!!!? Posted: 05 Dec 2016 01:47 PM PST Well, maybe the title question is irrelevant, because I just realized since my nexus 6 usb port is broken, I couldn't update to 7.1.1 with an OTA posted online...or could I? I thought OTA was a file that I could download and just start, like when an update automatically shows up. then I read that it requires usb and a pc. ??? I'll be waiting for another BS delayed update to show up on my phone randomly someday in the next 1-2 months. What a bummer. any good news or tips to just get my beloved shamu to 7.1.1 today? links appreciated. |
Can not receive picture via text message on VM Samsung J3 (Virgin Mobile) Posted: 05 Dec 2016 01:42 PM PST Last week I purchased a Samsung J3 to replace my LG Volt. I've seen the question posted a number of times but have not seen an answer that helped me. I have virgin mobile service and on a plan this is wifi only (no data). I guess the main thing that puzzles me is how come I was able to get these same messages on on the same plan using the LG Volt and now I can't with the new phone ? Did they change some setting on the new phone to push towards purchasing a data plan ? If it matters I am in the U.S. Thanks for the help. |

Using SD card as memory AND as storage in Android v6.0? Posted: 05 Dec 2016 01:39 PM PST Just a question here... If you decide to expand the memory by using the SD card as memory in Android v6.0, must the entire card be formatted as memory? Or, can the SD card be partitioned (for example, a 64GB SD card partitioned into (two) 32GB partitions), with one partition used as expanded memory, and the other partition formatted as storage? Thanks in advance for any help. |
