Greetings Android Central forums,

I recently purchased a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 to test software on (I'm a QA tester). It's currently running 5.0 and I would like to update to 6.0, only problem is that I am not and have never been a Verizon customer. Once I tried to update the phone I found out that it requires activation to upgrade.

I'm sure there is a work around here, does anyone have any idea of how to upgrade to Marshmallow on this device without purchasing a Verizon contract?

I've been following all of the news reports of what Samsung is going to say on Sunday, and it just keeps bothering me: if the batteries were not the right size to fit the space (per WSJ) why not release the GN7 with new batteries? That would be far better than waiting another 8-9 months for whatever the GN8 brings, and NO, the GN7 nor my iPhone 7+, are NOT adequate replacements for the GN7.

Basically, I used sms backup and restore to backup my conversation with my girlfriend since her phone went blank. I put the backup into her new phone but the messages are still showing as my number was the reciever not hers. New messages created a new conversation.
Please tell me how can I fix it and have one conversation in her phone...

At one time I was able to access the equalizer in the Play music settings of my OP3. It looks like other users have had this issue on other devices but I haven't found a definitive "how to" to get it back. I've cleared the cache of play music, play services, etc but still no equalizer. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thx!

when i log into whatsapp web interface on my windows7 machine i no longer get notifications on my nexus 5x of new messages. when i log out of the whatsapp web interface, i then get notifications on my phone. is there anyway to force notifications to occur on both the web interface and my phone?

my phone, upon turning airplane mode on, is stuck with it being on. i try to turn it off and it is stuck in a "turning off" state - allowing wifi to be used but not mobile data. i tried updating my phone to 2.38.617.6 in the hopes this would fix it but to no avail. i've seen this is a common problem with earlier htc phones ( through google searches ) but haven't found any working fixes or anyone reporting the problem with my model of phone.

A friend sent me a text message with a shared note from his icloud account on his iphone. My Moto Z with android 7.0 won't open it and I can't find an app that will view it. I've searched and haven't found this question raised on the forums. I could ask him to send it in another format, but I'd like to know if there is a way to open the occasional ios note on an android phone?

My 5 month old Samsung S7 Edge was stolen on an overseas trip on December 19. Whoever stole it immediately turned it off and probably threw the sim card away too. I could not locate it using android utility. I changed the lock screen password and after 2 days finally erased all the data through android utility remotely. I went back to my old S4. I had a backup of my S7 taken on December 18. But when I started my S4, it did not sync up from that back up (with the same google account), and continued with whatever it had 5 months ago. Now that S4 data is getting backed up, but I would really like to restore from my Dec 18 backup. I see that backup on my google drive under Backups menu but can't do anything with it.
How can I restore my S4 from that particular backup?

Just got the phone & the contact / text colors are HORRIBLE !!

I've spent hour & even spoke with a tec !! Is there any way to change the way (color) of the text ??? Thanks

Haven't found one. Got the Ringke Fusion, Nilkin hard shell and the spigen rugged Armour. Didn't like either one of those. Ringke got yellow. Nilkin feels cheap. Spigen is too bulky and feels crowded at the back with that design.

Using the Pixel with a glass protector in the front and a simple film protector for the glass back without a case. Enjoying it very much. But I was curious what solutions have others found to the problem that is Pixel protection. I would love to have a case on but haven't found anything I like.

So as the thread title says, how us the S7 Edges IP68 Protection helping you?

For me:

- Helps a lot with keeping the phone clean, every week I dip it in clean warm water and then whipe it down, including cleaning ports like the Micro USB port and 3.5mm jack.

I'm not a Germophobe but I am aware that my phone is something I touch more than anything else and so any thing else I have come into contact with probably also got it on my phone.

- Usable during heavy down pour. I live in Johannesburg, South Africa, a place famous for its gold deposits, being the economic hub of Africa, and also very well known for its incredibly Hot clear sunny days followed by late afternoon Heavy summer thunderstorms. Walking to my car after work I had to walk in the heavy rain, but was also texting happily on my S7E, not even worried about water damaging it.

- I also have a bad habit of putting my phone on the table when out e.g. having drinks with mates, and often times there is some spilling of e.g. shooters, I am convinced my S7E has had about the same amount of tequila as I had over the festive season, but thanks to the water Resistance a little dip in water got it clean and removed any stickiness and kept going.

My phone is taking the abuse very well I must say. :)

I know, this doesn't even have Nougat yet, but based on history, do we think this will get 8.0? Still deciding, but I might get this today. Not sure if I want to get a phone that would only be updated with 1 new version of the software. I know, if that is a deal breaker, then get a Nexus or Pixel. Thoughts?

I've had this Gear S2 for almost a year and never had any battery issues. I don't use many apps, S Heath, phone notifications, weather & text messages. I've shut off everything else. I've never used always on with the screen. How can I figure out what app or function is draining the battery?

Hi. I somehow deleted my app drawer icon and wish to restore it. I'm using Action Launcher 3. I know Action Launcher has the Quick Drawer wich works for the time being but prefer the icon. Any help restoring it would be appreciated.
