Android OS across devices - smart TVs too?

Posted: 21 Jan 2017 01:33 PM PST

Granted my desired use of Android is probably not mainstream at all. What I'd like to do is use a 'smart TV' (with Android OS) as a HOME CENTER. I'd love to be able to use a wall mounted screen to display -

1) calendar for appointments/holidays
2) contacts lists
3) App downloads via USB/wifi
4) (text/PDF) file storage for reference viewing
5) App home databases access for reference/updating
6) App shopping lists

I've tried searching on 'android smart tvs' / forums but those are only entertainment oriented. And this forum - while about the android OS - is tablet/phone oriented. Why can't and isn't the android OS more 'cross device' friendly?

(and if it is, link references would be greatly appreciated!!)

no distance recorded?

Posted: 21 Jan 2017 01:31 PM PST

Went on a walk, turned on s-health on the watch, started tracking, activity set to walking. Location services on, connected the whole time to my phone (Samsung).

Watch recorded heart rate and time duration, but the entire time showed zero distance.

When the watch records walks on the auto detection, distance is revised no problem.

Any ideas why? Thx.

Samsung Galaxy Mega camera EXTREMELY grainy

Posted: 21 Jan 2017 12:47 PM PST

I have a samsung galaxy mega, and the back camera is just so grainy and awful looking, and I've tried resetting the camera to default settings but nothing happened. While I was fiddling around, I found a setting called "ISO" which was set to auto, and when I set that to 100, the camera wasn't grainy anymore, but it was EXTREMELY dark, despite my room being very well lit. It was so dark to the point that it was basically just black, but I did manage to see a piece of paper on my desk with the camera, and it was fairly clear compared to when that setting was on auto. I also forgot to mention that the camera is still somewhat dark when ISO is set to auto, but you can at least see what the camera is looking at.

Huawei Mediapda X2 Slow connection

Posted: 21 Jan 2017 12:35 PM PST

So I just got my Huawei mediapad X2 and i am noticing the wifi on it is pretty bad. I have yet to get my SIM card so I am just relying on wifi and rarely is it even usable.i put on the wifi speed indicator and it is tell me I and dropping below 1kb at times causing constant "connection time outs"

I tried to update through settings though what i think was the main update thing and it said that non are available.

This phone has been really great so far but I can even really use it because of this. Any suggestions

edge frozen and inoperable

Posted: 21 Jan 2017 12:23 PM PST

phone 2 days old, dual sim model, sourced from Hong Kong, (didnt know that at time of order) eglobalcentral.co.uk. response from them does not sound promising.
appears that I am not covered under manufacturers warranty due to phone being imported.
problem is, phone will not switch on, screen showing the time when it all froze up, and also 81% battery showing, charge light a constant red, whether plugged into power or not, no buttons doing anything.
any friendly wizards got advice or ideas?
