Is it possible to make an Android USB "stick" that sends its output to a Windows OS? Posted: 22 Jan 2017 01:29 PM PST This is a weird question to ask, but does anyone know if it would be possible to do this? Basically what I want to do is this... Get/make and Android powered "stick" with its own internal hardware (cpu wifi bluetooth etc). Then write some sort of Windows/Linux/Mac program that will allow the stick to boot into Android and send its graphic output through USB to the computer, which can display it on the screen of the computer at any resolution. This is not using the computer to render the image, the stick will do that, the program will simply display it in a window so that you can simply use the stick on any computer and have all your files and apps and more on any computer. The .exe/.dmg/whatever will sit in the internal storage of the device, which is accessible via USB while it is powered off like a USB flash drive. The program you run will enable the functionality without needing to install anything in the computer. So my question is, is this possible, and if it is can anyone help me make it come true? |
"Ok Google" detection not working - "Can't use the microphone." Posted: 22 Jan 2017 01:24 PM PST Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Android 7.0 Google App v6.10.37.21 Google app > Settings > Voice > '"Ok Google" detection'> 'From any screen' This brings up the "Search by voice from any screen" setup wizard. As soon as I tap "Get started", I see a message stating: "Can't use the microphone. Restart your device." Restarting does not help. This also happened in Android 6.x, before I upgraded to Android 7.0. Any ideas? |
How to fix Samsung Galaxy S6 that’s not charging [Troubleshooting Guide] Posted: 22 Jan 2017 01:04 PM PST One day s6 just wouldn't charge, start or give any signs of life. Wont connect to PC with usb. Need to recover data |
Posted: 22 Jan 2017 12:50 PM PST After two weeks what I've noticed. Need to hit "okay" when unplugged from power. Can go to sleep while looking at, reading. Screen starts to dim real quickly. Tap on screen does not bring it out of sleep. Have to press power Or if if locked use fingerprint reader which unlicks, no extra steps. Badges on apps? Not happening. Nothing major but could improve with updates, especially stay awake with facial recognition. There is a lengthy facial recognition feature but bailed when it got to be like fingerprint for face. Retinal ID? There really isn't anything missing that's major drawback. Got any to add or petpeeves? |
Encrypting and fully wiping data from Mate 9 Posted: 22 Jan 2017 12:49 PM PST Hi, I'm returning my Mate 9 and looking to wipe the data from it. I've read in numerous articles that to fully wipe an android phone I should encrypt my phone then factory reset it. However, I can't find the encrypt option on the Mate 9. So I have two questions... 1. Is the Mate 9 encrypted by default? 2. Does anyone know if I'm able to encrypt on the Mate 9? 3. If not, is there another way to encrypt/fully wipe data from the Mate 9? Someone suggested using an app such as "Secure Erase with iShredder 4", do these apps actually work? Thanks in advance. |

Set individual notification sounds for each app. Lg g5 Posted: 22 Jan 2017 12:26 PM PST I just got the lg g5 a few days ago, so maybe I have overlooked it, but is there a way to set different notification sounds for each app? I am use to having individual tones for text, email, Facebook, snapchat and other apps, but i can't seem to figure out how to do it. |

Posted: 22 Jan 2017 12:09 PM PST I charge my phone overnight on a wireless charger. Will anything bad happen to the phone or battery if I keep it on a wireless charger at my desk during the day? Will it shorten the battery life or do any damage? Thanks. |
Verizon system update rolling out now. Posted: 22 Jan 2017 12:06 PM PST Phone just started downloading a system update. Looks big. Suspect it's a security update. I'll update post once it installs but I only have 17 percent battery left at work so someone else will likely beat me to it. |
