Android touch screen finicky (occasionally completely unresponsive) after water rescue Posted: 14 Apr 2016 12:28 PM PDT Hi all, My Android phone fell in water yesterday. I pulled it out immediately. It was still working but I turned it off. I took off the cover and sim and sd card (battery doesn't come out), and dried it off. I then blow dried it with a hot blow drier (which I now realize may have been a mistake) and submerged it in rice for 12 hours. Today the phone's touch screen was finicky at first... sometimes it worked fine, sometimes it would become completely unresponsive. To make it responsive again when it was unresponsive, I had to reboot it. Usually that would make it responsive for a minute at least. I then turned the phone off for several hours, and when I turned it back on, it worked great for several hours! After finishing sending emails etc, I plugged it in to charge again, realized I forgot to send a message, and came back to it. All of a sudden it was completely unresponsive again. I've tried rebooting it several times but each time it's been unresponsive. When it's unresponsive, I can't even unlock the phone or power off the phone .... When I click the power button for a long time, it automatically reboots instead of powering off. Due to the pattern described above, I doubt this is hardware damage. Any idea on how to fix it? It's a Moto G first generation, bought a year ago. Thanks! Iliana |
Why can't Google search give me USA results? Posted: 14 Apr 2016 12:21 PM PDT Really what is so hard. I am tired of searching on there just to keep getting UK and India sites. Especially when I am searching for tech products or music services. Hello they use different standards, pricing and selections of titles. Anyway to force Google to only search in the USA where I actually live and I mean using the Firefox search bar for USA only results? |

Anyone thinking of jumping from the M9 to the 10? Posted: 14 Apr 2016 12:14 PM PDT My M9 is only a year old now, so I'm not yet eligible for upgrade (Sprint). However, my vibration is gone and I have the cracked camera cover on the back. I've thought is using the "Uh-Oh" $100 off, but that's still pretty stiff with no subsidy. Anyone else thinking of this option? |

Posted: 14 Apr 2016 12:02 PM PDT I've got the original 360 running Marshmallow and am now trying to connect it to a new G4, because my old one got stuck in a boot loop, but whenever I press the "Unpaid from this device" button it comes up with the factory rest screen and then switches off. When I switch it back on all my data and apps are still there and it's like nothing's changed. I'm just wondering if there are any fixes. Thanks Posted via the Android Central App |
Anyone know any remote device information viewing services? Posted: 14 Apr 2016 12:01 PM PDT Does anyone know of any apps for Android in which I would be able to view device statuses (like battery life etc.) from my computer? All responses appreciated. Thanks, Alex |
Battery Usage Data Not Available + excessive battery draining Posted: 14 Apr 2016 11:58 AM PDT Hi there. I have been having issues with battery draining. I am still on version 6.0 of Marshmallow. At 7pm yesterday, I was at 80 percent. I was using bluetooth headphones at this time, but turned it off to conserve battery life. At 12am, it was at 40 percent battery life. I woke up to 12 percent battery life in the early morning. Although, the battery information was working fine, it now says, "Battery Usage Data Unavailable" when I open the battery settings. Does anybody know what's going on here?? I used to get amazing battery life on this thing. |

Posted: 14 Apr 2016 11:56 AM PDT Hi, stumbled across this forum to get a definitive answer on how secure these are as ive been reading mixed things. Long story short left my acer c720 in a library in sleep mode, went back later and there was no sign of it. It was encrypted with an 8 digit pass containing numbers/letters. Now as with any computer its full of personal details, emails, financial info, the list is endless. Now people are telling me it can be brute force hacked even though its 128 bit AES?And even cold boot attacks are a risk, even on ddr3 ram? Anyone clarify this for me, cheers |
s-health app not updated from the server Posted: 14 Apr 2016 11:55 AM PDT s-health pedometer scoreboard says "your ranking has not been updated from the server". This message has been the same for four months. Others on the forum have the same problem. I have been through the questions and found NO response that offers a "FIX" to my problem. Please help. Thank you in advance. |
Does anyone know what the best app for Android is to kill background apps from running Posted: 14 Apr 2016 11:54 AM PDT I've been looking for information on ways to save my battery and stop all of the background apps from running as well as apps "auto-starting" on my droid mini. There seems to be a lot of people that say not to use task killers because they drain the battery. Yet I've seen people suggesting to use ATK. I downloaded DU battery cleaner and it usually saves me up to an hour. Can anyone help me with these conflicting information? |
My phone can receive texts and calls but won't send them? Posted: 14 Apr 2016 11:50 AM PDT I have a moto g3 and it's showing full signal. It will receive texts and incoming calls, however it won't send texts or make outgoing calls. Is this my phone or the network provider? (giffgaff) |

CyanogdenMod update results in unrecognized SIM issue Posted: 14 Apr 2016 11:49 AM PDT CyanogdenMod updates their software regularly but you have no idea what they are really pushing. This time it took my phone out pretty heavy, no data and a bunch of other issues. I hear they are working on it but I would like to avoid relying on CyanogenMod from this point on. It's like a group of hackers that do what they do and I prefer stability and comfort of a brand name that provides security. Is the OnePlus operating system ready yet? |
