I'm going to return my Pixel C... Posted: 06 May 2016 12:02 PM PDT I've had my Pixel C for less than a week – I'm probably going to return it. It's nice in all the ways we've read about – the screen is awesome, it's fast and the battery life is excellent. It's just a bunch of little things that are extremely annoying. It's the first electronic device I've ever bought that doesn't have a manual. There are lots of little quirks with the Pixel C's version of Android that I can't figure out. I have a new LG-G4 smart phone with the upgrade to 'Marshmallow' and it's easy – a 'piece of cake'. The Pixel C – not quite so much. And there is no reference to go to for answers. They didn't supply a data cable – just a 110 AC charger. There is no USB port so I'm looking at buying a new cable for charging in the car, or data transfer. I didn't buy the keyboard – just need it as a touch tablet. It annoys me that that it does not support a stylus of any kind. It annoys me that there is no SD card support, but I knew that before I bought it. The camera isn't as good as I'd been led to believe it would be. The lower light photos are extremely grainy. With no manual, it is difficult to know whether I've done everything to ensure the setup is correct. I'll give it another couple of days, but I suspect a factory reset is in the cards, and a call to Google for a return authorization number... |

No longer have download app where is it Posted: 06 May 2016 11:54 AM PDT I used to have a download app on my Nexus 10, but it has disappeared. Now I don't know how to get to downloaded files. I still have acrobat reader, but not download, and cannot find many items. Has the download changed names or is it no longer available? |

Text Message, how can I fix a duplicate issue? Posted: 06 May 2016 11:41 AM PDT Why is this issue with N.Y. texting happening? I just got the new update. It's showing multiple same names every time I get texts |
Why can't I make or receives calls (I think it's hardware related)? Posted: 06 May 2016 11:25 AM PDT I have a T-mobile unblocked S5 and I can't make/receive phone calls. Actually, the phone doesn't even connects to the phone network (I get a Ø sign). When i restart the phone (or activate/deactivate plane mode) the signal bars appear but the Ø sign shows as soon as i try to make a call. I must mention I'm connected to the LTE network and data works fine (I can even make calls through some apps using data). I´ve already tried my SIM on other phones and I'm able to make/receive calls. I tried using another SIM on my phone and it can't make/receive calls either. I've already tried selecting network, re-registering and cleaning cache). I can only imagine it being a hardware related issue or an issue caused by an app (i already deleted apps installed in the last 7 days, which is how long i've had the problem). Any toughts on what I've troubleshooted so far and, if its a hardware issue, which part may need replacement? |
Posted: 06 May 2016 11:20 AM PDT The phone is advertised as having 4GB internal memory but only 2GB shows up at total storage when I first turned on the phone. Where sis the other 2GB go? |
Another reason to appreciate the Note 4 Posted: 06 May 2016 11:17 AM PDT I never really thought much about this until recently, but IMHO not only does the Note 4 still have superior hardware features of any Note device to date (ex. user-replaceable battery, SD card, IR blaster, chamfered metal edges yet a soft touch type removable back, etc.), but it also still has the best S-Pen detection mechanism as well. Case in point, I frequently use the S-Pen but will often set it down briefly while the screen times out and turns off (set to 30 seconds). When I want to use it again all I have to do is hover the top end of the S-Pen around the bottom edge of the phone near the back button and screen to wake it up. No need to press the power button or re-insert/remove the S-Pen from the phone as would be needed with the Note 5. It's a minor thing many may not use/consider, but to me it's another reason the Note 4 is the pinnacle of the Note series and the device Samsung should go back and emulate and improve upon! :) |
Posted: 06 May 2016 11:11 AM PDT I just upgraded my S5 to 6.0.1 yay, I'm trying to check out the new settings but am unable to find anything regarding Doze. This is the main feature I was excited about. Does anyone know how to adjust the settings? I checked the battery app but there's nothing about optimization there... Odd... |
