S7 Edge screen looks...washed off.

Posted: 09 May 2016 12:19 PM PDT

I have a question. Just this morning I noticed that my screen looks...very light. Not as in my brightness being low, but as everything looks...washed off. It's weird. Very light. Doesn't look as vibrant as it used to. Like if I click on these threads or look into Facebook everything looks really light. The colors aren't as vibrant. Is there something that happened over night?

VS980, should I remove the sim and do a factory reset or would it be just as useless?

Posted: 09 May 2016 12:08 PM PDT

When I first left verizon my son was using it as a wifi only device but then after requests for updates came out it stopped working with an error message that it can not update (anything including apps). I want to know if I should remove the sim and do a factory reset or would that render it just as useless? It is in perfect mechanical working order and was paid off when I left Verizon so I would like to use this fully paid for device like a mini tablet. What can I do?

Is there a way to connect my HTC Desire 816 to 5 ghz WiFi?

Posted: 09 May 2016 12:07 PM PDT

My work upgraded to 5ghz WiFi & my phone does not recognize the signal. I was hoping there was something I could download to help me connect to the WiFi again.

Galaxy S6 Edge (Android) Pink Theme issue?

Posted: 09 May 2016 12:05 PM PDT

So I wanted to change my theme up to the "Pink" theme listed in free themes on the theme store, and so I downloaded and installed it. Everything works fine, except for my messages. Whenever I go to my text messages inbox, it pulls up the screen just fine, however when I go to click on a conversation, the screen tells me my messages app is unresponsive and will close, giving me the only option of "okay". I've tried to restart, shut off my phone, delete the theme and reinstall it, but nothing works. It's only MY theme that does it too. My friend got the screen name theme, and it worked fine on that phone. Any other theme I use on my phone works 100%, no errors. But the pink theme doesn't allow me to text. Any help?

Anybody else using Good Lock?

Posted: 09 May 2016 12:04 PM PDT

I recently installed Good Lock on my phone and I feel like there has been some noticeable battery lost. Is this app battery heavy or am I mistaken? Anybody else using it and has it been killing your battery faster?

Moto Amps: Moto goes modular

Posted: 09 May 2016 12:01 PM PDT

Motorola is preparing 2 Moto X flagships with a modular backplate design | VentureBeat | Mobile | by Evan Blass

Rumored:
  • Colored Backplate
  • Stereo Speakers
  • Battery Pack
  • Camera Grip with Flash and Optical Zoom
  • Pico Projector
  • Rugged Cover with Wide Angle Lens Attachment

Quote:

Modular done right
The bigger story here starts with those 16 holes seen on the back of the white Vertex, above. While they've been written off in some coverage as speaker ports, they are actually connection pins that allow modular backplates to be snapped onto either handset.

Motorola has at least six modules, called "Amps," planned for launch, including a simple colored backplate that ships free with both handsets. The more interesting ones will be, of course, sold separately, both from Moto as well as third-party manufacturers. The first-party modules available at launch allegedly include stereo speakers; a battery pack; a camera grip with flash and optical zoom; a pico projector; and a rugged cover with wide angle lens attachment.

It should now be clear that the phones' protruding camera lens will actually sit flush when there are Amps attached. They're connected magnetically in a manner that was said to make for a tight, secure connection while also allowing for easy removal.

This modular system, and the one introduced by LG with the LG G5, are undoubtedly similar and will prompt comparisons in the press. And despite being first to market, LG is very likely going to come out on the losing end of these evaluations. Focusing so tightly on offering a removable battery seems to have hamstrung the Korean manufacturer into a form factor not nearly as well-suited for the task as Motorola's.

Weird LG G2 photo issue

Posted: 09 May 2016 12:00 PM PDT

Hi,

I've found a very strange problem with my G2, in certain conditions the photos are taken like the one I've attached. The conditions are:
Photo size 8M or 1M;
Objects at a distance;
Fast zoom in and take photo quickly;
Fast zoom out to 1X and take photo quickly;
Doesn't happen every time but I can reproduce it most times I try.

With photo size 13M and 10M doesn't happen.
My phone is the 32GB version with android 5.02. I've done a factory reset but issue remained.

Any ideas??
Thank you

Pixel C good fit?

Posted: 09 May 2016 11:57 AM PDT

Hi, Been reading through the threads here while I've been thinking about a Pixel C purchase and appreciate what people have shared on pro's/con's.

I know there is a lot of "well it depends on what you need..." answers to the should I buy it question.

I'm currently fully IOS based (for mobile) on what my employer has provided (Iphone 6, Ipad 4), but thinking of getting the pixel c for personal entertainment / and lite(ish) productivity.

In my personal life I'm fully bought into Google echo system (gmail, drive, docs, sheets, keep, calendar, etc). I've found IOS support good for basic activities, but to "fiddley" on IOS for things like docs, sheets, photos when trying to be productive. Things often work but not well and too much capability is not available. I like the idea of either IOS or Andorid side by side apps, but my ipad is too old and slow for this.

I don't need a photoshop, video editing machine, but would like something that is convenient and pleasant to use for some document editing, spreadsheets, managing my online life.

My only other concern is that I'll miss the LTE on my ipad...

Also I hear concerns about android table apps. I'm guessing this will be less of an issue in reality.

Anyway, Pixel C? Chromebook better for what I'm needing?

The developer discount is tempting me, but don't know if returns are difficult if it is not a good fit.

Thanks for any suggestions or pointers to where this has already been covered.

VZW Hotspot with Grandfathered Unlimited

Posted: 09 May 2016 11:51 AM PDT

I am new at this forum and found the thread about the subject but not sure how to post under that particular subject - sorry if I am posting in the incorrect spot.

So, I have the grandfathered unlimited plan and with the others always afraid I am going to do something that switches me to the data plan. Anyway, I have an Samsung Galaxy 3 under warranty that I keep getting replaced due to the upgrading phone at retail issue. I don't think I have ever used the hotspot feature but I have a hotspot icon in my apps and when I click the icon it gives me the option to configure it. When I click configure, it comes up with my phone and a password that is already set. I can view the password and it is some random letters that I would have never chosen.

Question is do I really have the hotspot already configured on my phone, maybe from receiving a refurbished unit through warranty? Or is this where I will see the charge option and agree to terms and conditions?

I want to be able to use the hotspot next week. Thank you!!!
