Announcements include Project Ara (modular smartphone), Jacquard (touch-sensitive fabric), Solis (radar-enabled electronics), and Spotlight Stories (immersive 3D storytelling). If you have some time kill, it's worth a watch.

Allo wont offer a default encryption setting because it'd kill Google Assistant functionality in the app. For users concerned with privacy, Allo's Incognito Mode is the way to go.

Benson Leung's infamous shun of the HTC 10 and LG G5 to any USB Type-C purists had a lot of people stepping back from their plans to purchase the devices, but at least one of these phones may find its way back into the good graces of the community. The LG G5 is supposedly USB Type-C spec-compliant, after all.

Google has filed for an interesting patent related to vehicles, something we imagine the company is primarily seeking for their self-driving car efforts. The patent details a system that uses adhesive on the front parts of a car that will keep a pedestrian in place if they are crashed into.
