With web addresses (URLs) becoming stupidly long nowadays, a number of services offer services to shorten them. If you add a long URL into a tweet, for example, Twitter will shorten it to an address that starts with t.co. But when you see a shortened link, starting with something like buff.ly or t.co or goo.gl or bit.ly, how do you know where you're going to end up?

You could click on the link, of course. But if it's a malicious one, or it leads to a site that might try to download malware onto your computer, that's not ideal.
