The VERY best FREE messaging replacement for the stock app on the galaxy S4. SMS is fast, and group chat MMS works perfectly as well. I am on Sprint (which supports MMS over WiFi) and Textra is the ONLY third-party messaging app that works with MMS on WiFi!!!!!! Plus it's FREE, no ads. Simple. Beautiful. Fast. Even the dev's know their app is just that good plus it's free. Bar none, this is the best SMS/MMS replacement app I've ever used. As soon as I launched it the first time, I fell in love. Upon launch, Textra sets up all the technical stuff automatically in mere seconds. And boy, the speed doesn't stop there. I have about 60,000 texts. With my stock app, I'd have to sit there and wait forever for various hiccups and loading and blah blah blah... I've tried every other SMS replacement app I could find. Textra is the only one that handles all of them without skipping a beat. It also lets you customize settings for each contact. Textra is a seriously beautiful, feature rich SMS and MMS replacement app.

WHAT'S NEW

Auto Night Mode. See Settings > Customize Look > Screen Color. Perfect if you use Light mode but wish it was not so bright at night (auto switches during Twilight).
When sending or receiving just emojis, we show the emojis MUCH BIGGER and without a bubble. Go on express yourself!
Just for fun, we now do a delightful transition animation when pressing the + / x icons (to the left of the message text field).
We now support converting long SMS messages into MMS. See Textra Settings > SMS > Convert Long SMS to MMS. This is per-conversation as well (long press in the conversation list). So great if you are sending from say AT&T to a friend on Verizon and long SMS messages often get split and arrive out of order.
Failed Notifications (e.g. Mobile Data is off when receiving an MMS) now play a (failed) ringtone and also vibrate.
Bug fixes and layout improvements.
Important: The Auto Night Mode feature requires a new permission "approximate location (network based)". This gets an approximate location from your mobile tower or WiFi network connection to determine when Twilight starts and ends based on your approx location (typically once a day). This DOES NOT use your GPS. There are no battery implications in using this permission.
