A senior research fellow at James Cook University in Cairns, Australia, says that "anyone who is physically capable of activity should try to reach at least 150 minutes of physical activity per week and have around 20 to 30 minutes of that be vigorous activity," sourced from this article The Right Dose of Exercise for a Longer Life in The New York Times.

Well, to monitor and ensure that a target is achieved, there are some fitness and health apps that fit the bill and are available for free. Among them, Google Fit is one of the good choices for Android devices, to a certain extent similar to Health for the iPhone.

With this app Google Fit, you are able to set targets and track walks, runs, rides and other progress of physical activities in terms of time spent, distance travelled, steps achieved and calories of energy burned, all viewable in a clear summary, timeline or graph details.

Fit also integrates fitness information from third-party apps and devices so that you can track all your progress in one place.
