Is it possible to export calendar events from BBM into Google? Posted: 26 Apr 2016 12:17 PM PDT We just started using BBM on Android (and Apple, but I'm on my GS7) for work (very small company and no one has ever used it before) and I'd really love it if I could dump the events in BBM into Google somehow so they show up in my calendar widget on my home screen. I can see BBM in my list of accounts to sync, but I can't seem to get it to do what I want. I feel like I'm missing something stupid and because we have no idea what we're doing yet I'm asking the interwebs for assistance :-)

Does factory reset remove carrier information? Posted: 26 Apr 2016 12:09 PM PDT My S3 has been acting a little funny lately, and I had tried the usual full shut down, as well as other methods to get a certain app working again. Delete and re download did not work either, so I decided to go to a factory reset. I was wondering, what backup method do you recommend for something like this, and also, would performing a factory reset remove my carrier info, like phone number and data plan? I do have a SIM card, if that helps at all. Thanks for the help!

Using proximity sensor to turn off the screen Posted: 26 Apr 2016 12:05 PM PDT Hi guys I use my phone to read alot off stuff, etc, due to which short screen switch off setting (eg. 1min) is too short for me. I have my screen set at 2 minutes right now. Now, this is a bit of a nuisance when texting or accessing the phone for a brief moment - im a left, the phones big; i need to jiggle the phone in my hand to reach the screen button. I use a cover that has a flap. It would be perfect if i could somehow use the proximity sensor to detect when the flap covers the screen to turn it off. I also have a cheap cover for 20e. It has no magnet in it. Please advise. Cheers

How resistant are non-Gorilla Glass screens? Posted: 26 Apr 2016 12:02 PM PDT I have a cheap "generic" Android smartphone (no Gorilla Glass). I don't have a screen protector right now. My question is: How easily would the screen get scratched just by placing it in my pocket and taking it out? No keys or change or anything. (Just because it's cheap doesn't mean I don't value it.)

why am i getting low AnTuTu scores/bad performance on my s7 edge ? Posted: 26 Apr 2016 11:51 AM PDT I noticed that games are very laggy on my phone so i decided to download the AnTuTu benchmark and see what's up. And to no surprise it shows a score of around 95000 which is very low compared to the 120000+ i see on youtube. Its the Exynos version btw and yea i tried restarting and retesting.

I really will be heartbroken if I can't get my data music pictures etc from the phone. I CAN ONLY GET ONTO SCREEN WITH RECOVERY MODE. thanks

Calendar notifications while on calls - Galaxsy S6 Posted: 26 Apr 2016 11:35 AM PDT I've recently started using the Galaxy S6, and I cannot get the Calendar notifications to stop interrupting my calls. I use the stock Calendar, and I've set "Notify during calls" to "No". This only seems to happen with Calendar notifications. Texts, alarms, etc., just pop up at the top of my screen (during calls) without the audible alert. If I turn the Calendar notifications completely off then it doesn't notify me at all, and therefore becomes useless as a calendar. I'm self-employed and spend a great deal of time on the phone. Can somebody please help? Thank you in advance for your time and expertise!

How to turn off Touch vibrate on keyboard when typing? Posted: 26 Apr 2016 11:32 AM PDT Just got my N5x yesterday and went through all the settings to turn off sounds and vibrations (even the vibrate on touch) but the phone is still vibrating when I type. Did I miss something? Thanks!

Bell LG G4 VoLTE not working Posted: 26 Apr 2016 11:29 AM PDT So Bell rolled out an update to enable VoLTE a couple of days ago (4/24) and it doesn't work on my G4. The VoLTE option is available in the menu and set to on but the options (video dialer) to use it in the dialer are not there My wife's Samsung Galaxy S6 is fully functional with the VoLTE (on Bell network) so I'm not sure if it's a G4 problem or specific to my phone. Spent an hour on the phone with Bell techs and they could not resolve Anyone else having this problem?

When I open messages and click on a single person-to-person existing test, it closes and gives me the error "Unfortunately, Messages has stopped". Google Now won't send texts when connected via in-car bluetooth Posted: 26 Apr 2016 11:22 AM PDT When I use Google Now normally and say 'Send a text to ........' my phone then asks me what the message should be. However, I really want to use this function whikst driving. I have a Samsung S5 mini and have taken the steps to replace Samsung S-Voice with Google Now, including installing the BT GNow app. Whilst all other commands seem to work, and the phone is happy to talk to me, when I ask it to send a text it starts to perform this action by opening up the SMS screen with the recipient in the right place but it now fails to ask me what the message is and the car hands free cuts out as if it thinks the order is over. If I reconnect to the voice software by pressing the button on my steering wheel it exits this screen ready for fresh instructions. It did once take text messages properly but I was having issues getting it to go to Google Now as standard and by the time I figured out how to make this happen it developed the issue with sending texts. Can anyone advise?

A Word About Opera's Upcoming Free VPN Posted: 27 Apr 2016 02:53 AM PDT You may have read recently that the latest version of the Opera web browser now includes a free VPN. This means that, with a click of a button, you can change the IP address which web sites use to identify you. Changing your IP address has 2 main benefits. Firstly, it means that a remote site can't determine who you are. This helps improve your online privacy. Secondly, you can request that the new IP address which gets assigned to you is registered in a country other than your own. This allows you to fool web sites into thinking that you are based elsewhere. This means that, for example, if you're in the UK but you want to access a site that only allows connections from the USA, changing your IP address to a USA-registered one will bypass the restriction. Because Opera's free VPN is built into the browser, it's very easy to use. Just enable it with a single click in the Settings section, then turn it on and off as required via a button on the main screen. However, remember that it only works for sites that you access via the Opera browser. Information that your PC accesses from outside the browser will still divulge your real IP address. Can't figure out system ui Posted: 27 Apr 2016 01:12 PM PDT So, my marshmallow update came today (I'm from Croatia) and I was so excited! But... I read about this system ui tuner and my quick menu doesn't even look like on pictures, it's not black and my gear icon doesn't rotate at all. I don't know if it has something to do with my launcher (touchwiz) so I now have Google Now and nothing is happening! My phone is galaxy S5. Thank you very much, as you can see I can't figure it out and my phone is not rooted, I don't understand much, but I'm trying! Thanks

But is anyone else having issues with the Double Tap to turn on the Screen? It worked flawlessly since day one, but suddenly is not functioning. It started before the Marshmallow update, Yes I have tried turning the Phone and Feature off and on. I cannot figure this out. Any suggestions or people experiencing the same thing?

Sleep Mode - displaying the clock and notifications Posted: 27 Apr 2016 12:35 PM PDT My phone is set up to display the clock and notifications during Sleep Mode by tilting the phone, and it will just display that and won't go back into awake mode. I usually do this by holding the phone vertically. However, it's inconsistent. When you do this, is tilting vertically the only way it will happen? I have a Moto E Gen 2. Daydream mode is turned off. I was hoping that slightly tapping the screen or phone will also do it, but it usually doesn't.

Moto G soft bricked - how to hard/factory reset without recovery mode Posted: 27 Apr 2016 12:30 PM PDT Hi I have a Moto G XT1032. I have a custom rom and twrp recovery. Recently, I soft bricked my phone worse than ever before (yes it has happened once before). I don't have USB debugging on so i can't reset manually. Also, factory reset from fastboot won't work (stuck on bootloader), I tried to boot recovery mode but i get stuck on the loading screen for TWRP. The only thing that is in my favour is that USB debugging is on even though my recovery isn't loading up. I'm not 100% sure on what commands to use on ADB so need help on that. Any ideas on how to factory or hard reset my phone (either will work). Also, is there a setting to enable USB debugging permanently because this way, i could wipe my phone easily. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Officially known as version 16.04, its codename (always an adjective and an alliterative animal) is Xenial Xerus. Which is apparently a type of squirrel. LTS means Long Term Support, so this version will receive updates and security fixes for at least 5 years, making it something that you can confidently install on either your main computer or a spare one. The safest way to try Ubuntu, or indeed any new operating system, is to create a virtual machine so that you can run what's effectively a completely separate computer in a window. Check out VirtualBox if you want to do such a thing. You'll find it at https://www.virtualbox.org/ and it's a free download. Ubuntu 16.04 is available at http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop though be aware that the download is around 1,400 MB. If you're installing it onto a PC to replace the existing operating system, burn it to a bootable DVD disc. Or if you're going to try it in a virtual machne, simply point VirtualBox at the .iso file you downloaded.  Read More

I have tried the s7 edge a couple times and took them back because my hands just couldn't get used to the edges. I am trying the s7 because I want something that's size is between the 6s (too small) and 6s plus (too big). Hoping I stick around a little bit this time!!

Home screen return causes icon jump. Posted: 28 Apr 2016 12:19 PM PDT Anyone getting the same over the last few days. A curiosity rather than an issue. I have a Moto X Style since December. Returning to my only home screen causes the app icons to drop down slightly but very noticeably. Like they were slightly vertically elongated and then resumed their proper size, or they were all drawn quickly slightly too high and then dropped back down. I am no longer adventurous with the screen so just put icons I want there and change as and when. If you have another Launcher or theme it probably won't happen. I may try and video it with my other Moto G later. It's like opening a refrigerator door and seeing a small surprised Leprechaun darting for cover, or something. My screen : (don't laugh)

(Process com.android.vending) error Posted: 28 Apr 2016 12:08 PM PDT I recently did the BYOP thing with Tracfone. I had a friend that gave me an HTC Inspire 4G (Desire HD), so I got the SIM kit and everything seems to be in order. The only thing that does not work is that I cannot go to the google play store. I get an error message each time stating the following "Sorry! The application Google Play Store (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." I get the same message each time I try it. Tracfone support just tells me that the phone is broke and they wipe there hands of it! Is there a way to update the software? Since I am not on the AT&T network I cannot download and install updates through the AT&T Software Update feature. From what I gather from research done on the internet, this may have something to do with this phone having the old app market software on it. It is not letting me go to google so I can't update it that way. When I try to download an apk file I don't know where it is, if it downloaded at all. I have no idea what this thing uses for a file manager (not for a lack of trying to find out) and maybe someone has a clue. I know this is an older phone but it was free and I hope that it can be used. Any suggestions?

My device was lost, found, and now looks empty? Posted: 28 Apr 2016 11:53 AM PDT Alright here's my situation, my friend lost her phone the other day and it was found in front of a coffee shop she went to by another student at our school. The guy gave my friend her phone and all was well but when we charged it and turned it on it appeared the phone had been restored. She freaked out and thought it was the SIM card but I knew that wasn't true because she could still call and text plus I could see it in her phone, the SD slot was empty but I remember she never had an SD card because I suggested getting one once. Anyway, it's weird because she had a Verizon Samsung S4 or S5 (I don't remember) but the OS looks different as the icons don't look like they used to and all of her pictures, music, everything is gone. I checked her storage though and it says ~6GB of apps and no music, pictures or videos BUT there is ~5.5GB of miscellaneous files. My theory is that all of her stuff is still there somewhere but I can't find it in the file manager. Is her phone's memory gone with all of her pictures or are they there somewhere?

In order to get to USB access to my PC, I need to get the USB to be allowed to change to MPT mode. I followed some directions that seemed to place it in download MODE but, that is not the ticket. Why can't my phone play music? Posted: 28 Apr 2016 11:47 AM PDT I have been having issues with my Moto X Style. I upgraded it to Marshmallow and started experiencing audio problems. Once in a while, Google play music gives me an "audio playback error" while black player doesn't play anything. The ringtones and notification sounds do not work either. After further investigation I found that this problem only arose when I had Facebook's messenger app installed. I need messenger for keeping in touch with my friends but at the same time the error is quite annoying and makes me miss important calls. Any suggestions and help will be great.

Tasker and Samsung Pay Posted: 28 Apr 2016 11:46 AM PDT Is there anyway to get tasker to "accumulate" your charges for a period of time and send a text to your phone with the daily amount? Or even as the event happens so you have a text "record" for the day? I use one card all the time for miles but I'm horrible about remembering to pay it off each day from my bank card. I also am forgetful about what charges I already paid and where the new ones start when I try to just look at the online statement. As I type this, I realize I should probably just stop using the card :p But I was thinking it would be great if I could expand on the current notification (real time, once per charge, disappears upon the next charge) feature in SP with tasker - but I don't think tasker can intercept the data from SP to collect it and send it later. I have no idea how this would work - was just wondering if someone smarter than me had this situation as well. Thanks in advance - from what I know about tasker and permissions, I don't think this is possible but figured I'd ask.

Dialer does not suggest number from call history in Moto G 2? This feature was very well available on my Samsung S Duos phone but not working on lollipop or marshmallow on my moto g2 Does anybody else face this issue ???

Calls no longer ringing on watch Posted: 28 Apr 2016 11:41 AM PDT all notifications, calls, etc. were working fine on my phone until i recently enrolled in BYOD at work. i was forced to use a passcode/fingerprint to lock my device, and now my watch no longer notifies me when a call comes in. all settings have been verified correct, but no notifications when the calls come in. do calls no longer work when there is a passcode or fingerprint on the lockscreen? thanks.

Verizon Note5 restore itself to factory default overnight... should I be concerned? Posted: 28 Apr 2016 11:40 AM PDT I have a Verizon Note5 that I bought on launch day last year. Last Thursday or Friday, I woke up in the morning and noticed the phone looked different. I suddenly realized that everything had been wiped and reset to factory default, like it was just freshly unboxed. I didn't lose much. All my photos/contacts/emails were backed up to Google. It was a painful lengthy process to reinstall all the old apps. I didn't give it another thought and started using it afterwards. What could have caused that? Should I be concerned? I'm going out of town next week and don't want it to happen again while I'm on the road. I haven't called and spoken to Verizon yet. I assume that if their tech can't determine the cause, they may replace it with a refurbished or certified-like-new Note5.(which is what they did with my previous phone, the S6) Any advice appreciated!

WhatDog is a web site that will identify the breed of a dog from a photograph. There's even a downloadable app, if you need to be able to identify dogs while you're away from your PC. To get started, head to www.what-dog.net and upload a photo of your favourite unidentified hound. If you don't have one to hand, there's a collection of pictures on the site that you can use. Then just press the button and, within a second or so, the system will tell you the breed of dog in your photo. Good money manager/budget app for spouses with 2 google accounts? Posted: 29 Apr 2016 12:47 PM PDT I'm trying to find a good money manager app that will sync with my phone and my wife's phone. We have our own Google account, so it needs between the two. We were using Expense IQ and synced with a joint Dropbox account, but now I can only sync with my Google Drive account. Obviously, this won't sync with my wife's phone. I've found other apps with the same functionality, but that doesn't fix our issue of keeping us on the same page. I hope that we don't need to make a joint Google account because there are a lot of purchases we both have made in the past that we would rather not lose. What are other people doing to manage their money for couples and/or spouses? Thank you in advance. -Mathrin

Can not attach bitmoji to text messages anymore. Posted: 29 Apr 2016 12:39 PM PDT Today, 4/29/ 2016 - I can not attach bitmoji pictures to my text messages. I did yesterday with no problem. I can attach bitmoji to emails successfully. I have uninstalled bitmoji and reinstalled it. I have cleared cache. Nothing is working. Please help. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7.

Samsung note 2 LCD/Digitizer on note 3? Posted: 29 Apr 2016 12:35 PM PDT So I kinda landed on my phone's screen with my **** & surprisingly though, when I took it out of my back pocket the screen wasn't shattered but the LCD was or the digitizer. So I was thinking, before getting a new replacement LCD maybe I can try to clip on my note 2's LCD to see if my note 3 is still functioning. (It vibrates when I turn it on & the notification light still works) but idk if they're compatible. Halp?

Quieting the "Pings" Posted: 29 Apr 2016 12:29 PM PDT I've figured out many of the more important bells and whistles of my new sIII (operating on Verizon via Total Access) but one thing is driving my wife crazy and is starting to bug me as well. I've played with different ring tones and learned about haptic vibrations. One thing I can't find, however, is the brief "ping" tone that I get everytime a new email comes in. How do I quiet this? Screen broken unable to get pictures Posted: 29 Apr 2016 12:29 PM PDT Hey guys, I have an old Galaxy s3 which has a broken screen, I'm after getting some pictures off the phone which I know was defiantly on it as was using it more as a memory card just storing old pics etc. I have installed Google pics on my current phone to get all my old pics but seems these pics wasn't synced :( I also installed kies (Samsung software) into my laptop to transfer my pics that way but as I had a pattern screen lock on my phone it asks this to be unlocked before I can import them this way, as I mentioned above the screen is broke so I can't unlock the keypad either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks charlotte

How to tell of 2nd Edition is re-released Posted: 29 Apr 2016 12:27 PM PDT I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out before tomorrow. I went to a local owned AT&T store (not corporate) and was offered a free Urbane 2 LTE with purchase of LG G5 phone. I'm almost due for an upgrade so I'm considering it. Today I went to a bigger AT&T store (corporate store) and was told the watch was $99 with purchase of G5. They said the other non corporate store might be trying to get rid of their stock of originally released watches that were recalled and that's why they were free. So my question is, if I go to the local store, how can I tell if the urbane 2 was an original release or a re-release watch. If I have to pay $99 I will consider waiting for a different deal. If it's free, I'd like to do it by tomorrow because with the G5 I can also get a free battery through LG (that deal expires 4/30) Thanks for any help.

Help with an infected Galaxy Tab 4 Posted: 29 Apr 2016 12:25 PM PDT I have a severely infected Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 in my care. Its current symptoms are: 1) It shows a series of ten or so randomly named *.apk files in its notification list. These APKs appear to be repeatedly downloading/installing, and then forcing the tablet to reboot infinitely. The tablet will run in normal mode for about 30 seconds, then power off and restart without warning. 2) The tablet's home screen is full of fake apps with Japanese/Chinese labels and pornographic icons (Owner's teenaged son was last person using this tablet, lol). 3) I can boot the tablet into "Android System Recovery <3e>, using the Vol+/Home/Power button combo 4) When I attempt to use the Wipe Data/Factory Reset option, I get an error screen containing a "dead" android, lying down with a red exclamation triangle and the text "No Command". In fact, I booted into recovery a second time, and tried all six recovery menu choices, and get the "No Command" error for all of them. I also went into a second, hidden menu of the recovery options by holding in Vol+ and tapping Power, which revealed a second menu with three more choices. These three also yielded a "No Command" error. I can't keep the tablet running long enough to get into its settings menus, but if it helps, the recovery menu has KOT49H.T230NUUEU0AOD1, which google tells me is android version 4.4.2, April 2015 build date. I am assuming that means it has not been rooted or anything... Does anybody have any insight on how I can proceed to erase and factory reset this tablet, without the use of its broken recovery options?

Why are both red and blue lights on my idroidnation box? Posted: 29 Apr 2016 12:15 PM PDT I was clicking on the settings tab at the main menu with my idroidnation pro box and it froze up. I then tried to shut it off and it wasnt responding. I figured it froze so then i went and unplugged the box from the power and left for a few minutes and went to restart it and it now has both the red off light on and blue on light on and wont boot... Any advice?
