Anyone else having an issue with BT in vehicles with their Note 7? Posted: 24 Aug 2016 01:08 PM PDT I have spent countless hours, which I cannot get back, trying to get my N7 to place nice with my BMW X3 (2013). It always pairs fine..no issues. Then, after about 10 minutes, it goes into this "looking" phase and incredibly, while it shows on my N7, the paired phone disappears from my vehicle and shows No Phone and prompts me to add it, AGAIN. Which I have done, and then, the process repeats itself. I had always thought that with the advances in BT technology, it is backwards compatible, but now, I am wondering. Meanwhile, my iPhone 6s+ pairs with it perfectly and stays connected all the time, I paired my N7 with my wife's 2013 C300 and that works fine and stays connected. Very frustrating since I spend a lot of time traveling in my vehicle and would like to talk through the car rather than using an earpiece or headphones. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Maybe with the advanced security of the N7 it's somehow interfering with the pairing of the two in keeping them connected? I researched it online both for my exact vehicle and the phone but it's still too new a device and/or maybe it's just something I am not doing right? Hoping someone would have the "magic" cure for this. |

I recently fell victim to the $20 UDP price hike and finding staying on Verizon difficult with what my bill currently totals. The only way I can see getting it lower is to change my voice plan but I use right on the boarder of what the next lowest plan would give me. Is there a simple and reliable way to make and receive or at least make calls over data? I remember Google Voice and Hangouts being a thing awhile back but I could never get the Google Voice aspect setup correctly and eventually gave up. Can I use just the Hangouts Dialer without Google Voice setup? Or is there another service? Please, any info that could help me out would be appreciated. Thanks |
"Saved Networks" lists half-dozen networks I never added Posted: 24 Aug 2016 01:05 PM PDT I just moved to a new apartment and set up my internet/WiFi. I then changed my old WiFi network name to a new one, went into "Saved Networks" on my Moto G2 to forget the old network name, and noticed that I had a long list of networks saved to the "Saved Networks" list. These networks are all viewable when I turn my WiFi on at my new location, so they are local to me. Does anyone know how they may have been automatically added to my "Saved Network" list since I never tried to connect to any networks other than my own? Thanks. |

How to set SD Card as default storage on Alcatel One Touch? Posted: 25 Aug 2016 01:47 PM PDT Just bought a SD card few minutes ago. Now I'm home and have no idea how to make this thing work. It shows up on my phone; if I go to Storage in Settings, the SD Card is there showing it has 14 gbs available. I've tried downloading a random app from the playstore, it keeps trying to save on internal storage. I've tried to save a photo from the internet, again it saves to internal storage. I have an Alcatel One Touch. I've google a bit already and heard some disturbing things. That Google apparently made an update where SD cards don't work anymore, is that true? If so, isn't this false advertising that Android phones are still being sold with SD card slots that can't be used? Did I just waste $20 on this thing? I still have the receipt so I can take it back, but I'm really hoping there's some way to increase storage. My phone only had 4gbs available. I don't want to spend $100 on a new phone... Please help, thanks. |

I'm a journalist with Hoosier Tech in Central Indiana.* It is a common practice of everyone on our paper, and as far as I know, every journalist everywhere, if they have an account for a forum such as yours, to keep it separate from their professional account. Today I received an email stating that one of only two accounts I have (my personal one) was banned.* It stated that I am now at 200 some points an if I get any higher, I will be permanently banned. Of course, since my account was already banned it is impossible that I could have done anything to get additional points....so since you gave me a warning, but then I did nothing following the warning, under what circumstances was this raised from a temporary to permanent ban? There are other problems I have with this.* I hope we can resolve this amicably, because obviously I'll write to my readers about it if not.* First, if there is a rule on your site, it is certainly not easy to find.* A co-worker and I spent an hour trying to find your rules. The closest to that was in your FAQ which states that moderators MAY require some people to register a user name before they post. I still have not found anything that forbids more than one account. Again, for journalists, it is considered unethical to use the same personal account as the one you use on a professional basis.* Nevertheless, had I known that there was a rule on your site against this, uncommon though this rule would be in the world of journalism, I would have abide by it.* My contention is: A) You do not make it easy to find this rule against multiple ID's, and if you had I would have abided by it; B) You did not give me time to comply with your warning. You sent an email and threatened to ban me if I don't follow your rules about not creating multiple accounts, and then within minutes banned me anyway; and C) This is rude behavior for a fellow tech journalist.* For these reasons, I'm asking you to reinstate one of my two accounts, either the professional one or this personal one. I do apologize for my part in this misunderstanding, but I thought you were like every other forum I participate in, where it is permissible to have a private and professional identity. But when I go to Gallery, locate the video there and play, it plays. And when I come back to Whatsapp and then click on the same video it plays. Later when I download another video its the same story. I have updated all Google Apps, especially Google Photos. I have uninstalled Google Apps and reinstalled them hoping some bug might get fixed but it didn't help. I reset my phone, reinstalled Whatsapp but nothing works. Can somebody help? Best, |

Right now, I have a 16GB one that I got on sale at the Source (Canada's Radioshack) I forget the brand, but every now and again it crashes. I have it formatted to internal so I can store apps on it as well. I don't have many apps, but I have a few on an 8 GB phone that just won't fit unless I format the card that way, but every now and again it'll crash and I have to re-insert the card. Is there an SD card that will work better at a reasonable price - 16 GB is fine by the way - but doesn't crash, or is that just a problem with all SD cards on the phone? Updated to the latest version of android, had the problem before too. Also, if you have online suggestions, please make sure they ship to Canada, thanks! :) |

I use it to remotely connect to several windows machines for update control etc. I am not a small screen movie watcher. If I going to watch a movie, I want a screen I can see across the room. This unit does what I want but I want the updated O/S. Plus, I know that 2 to 3 years is about max to use any computer these days. Could someone else with the device tell me if the stock gallery app has an "auto adjust" option like the regular S6 and S7, S7 Edge and S7 Actives do? My S6 Active does not have an auto adjust option. When I got the phone yesterday there was a big 1441 GB 6.0.1 update ready to download and install which I did. I didn't check the gallery app before the update. I don't want to do a factory reset unless someone with the S6 Active can confirm that the auto-correct option is definitely supposed to be there. Record everything that your phone's microphone picks up, while still using the phone as usual. The recording is done in the background. It will not stop until you tell it to stop. It will re-start itself if the phone reboots. No pushing of volume buttons three times, no intricate procedures to start and stop recording! No accidental recording or accidental failure to record! Just open the app and click either Start or Stop. Click the Home button to hide the app in the background, while it is recording. BSR has a special feature lacking in many other covert sound recording apps: FTP uploading! If you set up your own FTP server and enter its hostname, login name, and password to BSR settings, BSR will be able to upload each recorded file to that FTP server. This opens endless possibilities for audio surveillance and audio documenting. BSR can be set up to keep your phone's internal storage memory from running out. Just set the maximum folder size, and BSR will delete the oldest recordings as soon as the folder size exceeds the maximum. BSR can be set up to record by schedule. Set the Start At and Stop At times and click Start Recording. It will wait until the Start At time, record until the Stop At time, and then wait again. This cycle will repeat forever, or until the device breaks down, or until you click Stop. Case and screen protector - Maybe the best solution Posted: 26 Aug 2016 01:48 PM PDT Somebody else posted about a case that looked different than all the others I've seen. It had somewhat "open" corners, something I felt a case needed so that it wouldn't push-up on a screen protector. It was this case: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...idcentral00-20 The case is very minimal - very thin. I would have preferred a clear case, like the Ringke I previously had on the phone, but it's black, as is my phone, and rather nice - assuming you like minimal cases. I got it today along with a nondescript tempered-glass screen protector: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...idcentral00-20. From what I can see, ALL tempered glass screen protectors are the same - with limited adhesive, top and bottom only. The problem with these is that the adhesive doesn't hold for long. So, I dabbed a tiny amount of clear silicone seal on the four corners and installed the screen protector. The touch is very nice. I suspect the problem most people have with the touch sensitivity of the tempered glass screen protectors is due to the adhesive giving way creating a space between the protector and the phone screen - hopefully the silicone seal will help with that. I then installed the case. The case does NOT touch the screen protector. Here are some pictures showing the spacing between the case and the screen protector: N7-1.jpg I would guess that this case would work well with any screen protector. |

I've got a galaxy tab s 10.5 running lollipop and up until a month ago all was fine. I had a change in my work shift and didn't use it until today. Turned it on this afternoon, noticed that the wifi was taking ages to connect, so clicked it off, nothing. Waited for a few minutes and the wifi turned off, then I clicked it on, nothing. Waited for another few minutes and it turned off automatically by itself. So I rebooted the tablet and tried again. No luck. Went on to my laptop and did a little research and came to the thread I mentioned above, tried a few things and nothing worked. Found out BT wouldn't work either. I'm now at a stand still as nothing I've tried has worked. I've read about sidesync but can't disable it as the button is just greyed out. I've rebooted into safe mode, rebooted into system and deleted cache etc etc. Nothings worked. So here I am asking for hayelp! :( Cheers WeeMike |

How do I enable wake screen notifications for Message+ on Galaxy S7? I tried clicking the tracking number and got taken to the call screen. No worries. I'm used to that from my iPhone. Then I long pressed the number and it did nothing. Wouldn't even give me the option to do anything else. Opened the gmail app and tried again and the long press brought up the options I expected from my Samsung email app. Here's my dilemma: I like the simple look of the Samsung mail app better but I want features like what the gmail app offers. It's there an option to tweak the Samsung app or will I have to just live with the gmail app to get the features I want? |

Does SystemPanel consume battery? - The only component of SystemPanel which runs in the background is the "System Monitor" feature. This feature must be enabled by the user (by default, SystemPanel runs nothing in the background). When enabled, the System Monitor feature will record data about which applications are consuming the battery every 15 minutes. All told, this feature will use approximately one minute of CPU / battery time per day of operation. When this feature is not enabled, SystemPanel will not run in the background in any capacity. Does SystemPanel automatically kill tasks in the background? - No, SystemPanel is not an automatic task killer. It has been well-established (by the Android documentation and direct communication with the Android engineers) that randomly or periodically terminating arbitrary tasks in the interest of saving memory will NOT yield a benefit in performance or battery life. The only benefit you will see from an automatic task killer is if it happens to terminate misbehaving apps. SystemPanel provides a better solution to this problem by showing you which apps are consuming CPU in the background (over time) with the "System Monitor" feature. It is then recommended that such applications be reconfigured or uninstalled (or perhaps corrected by filing a bug with the offending application's author). Weird micro USB charging issue... Posted: 27 Aug 2016 12:52 PM PDT Just over a week ago my phones micro usb post stopped working with 90% of the cables in my house now only maby 2-3 max will charge it and all of the rest just are not detected. I'm not sure if this is the micro usb slot going for a slow death or if its just something that i've done wrong any ideas of whats wrong or how to fix it? |

Is there anyway I can get my pictures off of my phone? Posted: 27 Aug 2016 12:11 PM PDT So I accidentally slipped water all over my phone which is a LG G Stylo. I dried it off and put it in rice for a few hours then tried to see if it still works. It didn't so I put it back in rice for a few more hours. At the end of the night I connected it to a windows laptop to at least get all my pictures back and well the phone connected but the computer itself didn't get the internal storage. I couldn't really do much at night so I put it back in the rice overnight and this morning I tried to connect it to the computer and nothing showed up it didn't show there was a phone connected. The phone screen is black but theres a red notification light that still works and it vibrates when I get a notification but I don't know how to get all my pictures back. I didn't back it up, it didn't have a micro SD card, and I didn't sync it with anything, all my information is in my internal storage. Is there a way to get all my pictures back? |

I have 2 issues with it. 1) whenever I create a gif, the auto focus is in the gif (yellow circle). Anyone know how to get rid of that? It doesn't stay long, but just enough to be annoying. 2) Sharing- no matter how long the gif, it's too large for sms. I tried standard quality and I believe it gave me the same message. And it looks terrible in standard. I had to actually upload it to Google Drive and send a link. I would appreciate any feedback whatsoever. |

I went to my local AT&T store and purchased the BodyGuardz HD Contour screen protector for my Note 7 and it works well with my Otterbox Commuter case. The screen protector adheres to the curved glass really well and it doesn't quite reach the corners of the phone, making it case friendly. You can find it under "accessories" at the AT&T website. How can I fix audio stopping/skipping? Posted: 27 Aug 2016 12:03 PM PDT Hello, first of all I'd like to greet everyone as I am a new member, this implies that I wasn't really sure where exactly should I post this thread. So recently I started experiencing a weird problem on my android device. It is a Lenovo K5 (Not Plus version), running Android 5.1.1 from the box with Kingston 32 GB class 10 sd card in it (recently bought). The problem is that when I am listening to my music (all in mp3 format) in some tracks there is a weird sound (not popping/crackling, i don't really know how to describe it) and the audio either resumes like a second later or it totally skips to a next track. This occurs in random tracks and random times however it persists so if I encounter it in eg. "track1.mp3" at 1:42 and play another one, when I go back to that "track1.mp3" it is still there in the same exact timestamp (1:42). When I remove this file and replace it with the same one from my PC the problem is gone for that track. Same when I plug the device in and try to play the file from the PC. No matter headphones or speaker. Also tried different audio players (Poweramp/Shuttle/Pulsar) and looked for help in the internet (duh) and well similar problems are not quite what I am struggling with here. I formatted my SD card - first on my phone, as that didn't help also on my PC (quick formatting off), all of it in Fat32. Furthermore there was another problem with the device. A small percentage of photos would have grey rectangles on them few hours after they were taken, so I thought that might be associated. After formatting on PC I didn't get any of those for last 2 days. As nothing really worked I came here dying for some helpful answers, so please help me if you have any clues as to what to do. |
T-mobile Note 7 Text Send failure when on WiFi Posted: 27 Aug 2016 11:52 AM PDT Greetings! I've been having this problem where I can't really send texts when my Wifi is connected. I do receive texts however but am not able to send texts over Wifi a majority of the time. I do have Advanced Calling Enabled for VoLTE. Tired turning it off and seems like the same problem. Posted: 27 Aug 2016 11:33 AM PDT I have a Galaxy S6 Edge + 2 days ago when I installed the system update I ran into a problem with screen overlay I couldn't access a lot of my apps and it seem to be going in a loop. The bottom line is the quick answer is uninstall any or all CM apps. I simply uninstalled CM Locker and instantly I had full access to my whole phone, just like I did before the system update.
