Everyone who needs to troubleshoot a problem with a crashing or slow PC needs to know about Process Explorer. Think of it as a hugely more powerful version of the Windows Task Manager. It shows you what all the programs, services and processes are doing on your computer, so that you can find the source of a problem. It even lets you find out which program has a particular file open, so you can track down problems where Windows is saying that a file can't be deleted because it's open in another process.

Process Explorer is a 1.8 MB download and it's free. A recent update earlier this month has added some new features, so if you're not already a user of this utility it's a good time to try it. Phone only charges through computer/"power sharing" (And other charging problems)

This was an extremely long ordeal, and I'm not sure what's important, so please bear with my retelling of my problems.

I first noticed something odd when my phone stopped recognizing my headphones. After some investigation, I discovered that I could not charge my phone and have headphones work at the same time.
Shortly after that I started getting messages that the charger I was using wasn't compatible with my phone, which I know is untrue since I use it everyday.
I plugged it into my laptop, which is what I usually do when I have charger troubles. It worked for a bit, and then stopped charging. Also during this time my computer did not recognize my phone which it told my by showing a "unknown device" popup. Many times.
Then my phone started to freak out, vibrating every second telling me that it was charging than not then charging again. I don't remember exactly what I did here but I assume I kept unplugging it until It calmed down.

Then my phone got an error message for something called "power sharing." My nemesis. I've had this happen a few times before, actually. I know it's some kind of glitch where your phone doesn't recognize the USB cable and thinks you're trying to use this power sharing application even if you don't have it downloaded. I've managed to conquer this before, but, again, I unfortunately do not remember how I did it.

I tried:
-Turning on safe mode (Did not work)
-Factory resetting (Did not work)
-Downloading the stupid power app (Kind of worked?)

After that my phone seemed to be charging ok. It even worked in the wall socket! I plugged it in for the night. I checked it again this morning and, of course, it had stopped charging over night. I unplugged it in and tried again and surprisingly it worked! I walked out of the door with around 50% battery.

When I got home the first thing I did was try to charge my phone via the wall socket. Nada. Right now it's plugged into my laptop and charging fine, but at over twice as slow than it normally does. Also, if my phone is off and plugged in, I cannot turn it on while it is charging. I have to unplug my phone to turn it on.

TL;DR after many problems and many attempts to troubleshoot, my phone only works while plugged in to my laptop.

Can anyone help? Considering I've had similar problems in the past I feel like it's fixable, but I've done all that I personally can think of. Thank you!

Weird question, but I royally goofed. Was trying to flash a new ROM to my Nexus 7 2012 and ended up deleting everything besides the bootloader.

Too add to this mess, my nexus 7 cannot be accessed through a PC. The port can charge, but no PC can recognize it. I have gone through every option imaginable, but no PC even acknowledges through device manager.

So now I'm stuck looking for a way to upload some sort .img or .zip file to the hard drive of my Nexus 7 when I can't connect to a computer and there's no OS to boot from

Tried some wget command line stuff, but command line stuff was very stripped down.

Is this possible, or is this going to be my new, fancy paper weight?

Xperia Z5 camera Error message

Hi. I have an Xperia Z5 which recently had a screen repair at LSG in UK. As expected, it came back as new.
For the first 5 weeks, it worked fine. Now I keep getting an error message "ERROR CAMERA MAY BE IN USE WITH OTHER APP"
I have tried clearing camera cash and even repair software via PC. Still same. Front facing camera works.
Any ideas or should I send it back to LSG.

Have 2017 Audi A4 and Samsung Galaxy s6 Edge connected by cable to screen. When displaying google maps, I used to be able to scroll top right on screen and give go to directions. Now the microphone symbol has a no talk bar going through it and I can't figure out how to activate microphone again for voice command. What happened and how do I clear the "no talk" symbol?

Have a newlynsey purchased Asus Zenpad for my mother in law. We set her up a Google account however didn't take a note of it as didn't think it would be needed!
Some how she factory reset it and nowe we can't get back in as don't know the Google login. I have tried various permutations.
I have tried the online "fixes" but all involved downloading a file and it isn't letting me download anything, even a jpeg!
Can anyone help please?

Sometime this summer my phone did an update(I'm now at 6.0.1 so I may have been in version 5 prior). Immediately afterwards, I was no longer able to use my flashlight at the same time as my camera which I used to do all the time to take pictures at night. Now, as soon as I load the camera, it turns out the flashlight. I know I can turn the flash on but it helps to light up something first before taking the picture. I also used it as kind of a remote eye to see around corners and such when working on machines. Is there a way to to fix this without adding another app?

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S6 G920a Unlocked running on 6.0.1 but originally from AT&T. The battery seems to drain a little even when using facebook with the brightness fully down. Also my UK sim card does work in this phone, however as i am in the UK the ROM is a little bit different to what i am used to as it has AT&T bloatware and settings such as software update etc. Is there any way i could flash a ROM like the G920F or the stock Samsung S6 firmware?

So I may be the only one but....I have a tempered glass screen protector and a Speck presidio grip case on my 128GB Pixel. I dropped it this morning in my apartment on the lanoleum floor in the bathroom. Although I know that is not a very hard surface I still got nervous the back glass would break lol has anyone else had a drop that scared them? Only dropped it from about 1 foot but still lol

I tried the search function but didn't see anything pop up.

So basically this has been going on for a few weeks now, alot of apps such as facebook, youtube, etc will show there is no mobile data connection, yet if I use them through the google chrome browser everything works as normal.

It's severely frustrating, anybody know what's causing this or how to fix it? :confused:

Problems after attempted root and factory reset

I was trying to root my S7 Edge with one of the Unlockrs methods. After using Odin3 and trying to boot my device I got a weird little icon next to my 4G data symbol and plus my phone was much, much too slow for a snapdragon model of the S7 Edge or any S7 for that matter. So I decided to factory reset and just forget the whole root process. Now, my phone is still slow and plus my data doesn't work. It says I'm on data but when I go to text someone it says "pending" and gives a message saying something along the lines of unable to send message, message will send when data is available. And one more thing, I keep getting Security Notices saying unauthorized changes were made, restart but they keep coming back. Right now, I was restarting after ANOTHER factory reset and now I'm stuck on the Verizon boot screen and my phone is vibrating randomly and I have no clue what to do. My model is the SM-G935V.

A while ago I was having this issue where the video would load but it would be really choppy and stop a lot, so I took the battery out and put it back in and it fixed it. But then it started happening again so I tried the same thing and it didn't work so I tried to restart it but that didn't work either, so I was going to try to uninstall it and reinstall it but it was preloaded so I tried to turn the app off and on again, but I guess something went wrong because now I'm stuck with this app that was the little android emoji thing and it's called like com.youtube.android... and it opens the app and can't load anything or go online. And now I'm stuck with this version of youtube that doesn't work. Please help.

5X w/ Fi Unable to Place Calls thru Wifi OR Cell - Anyone Experience This?

I am trying the 5X and Fi as I like the idea of using my WiFi when I can. However it's not infallible and after storms etc. I can have no internet for hours or occasionally longer. Cell is usually decent here - I had Sprint before for years and it worked OK.

I've had my 5X for just over a week and am still 'figuring it out'. Couple days ago I couldn't make outgoing calls. If I dialed a # I got an error - something like "Error dialing". Rebooted... Now when dialing It would say "Dialing" for about 30 seconds. Then it would make a single tone. Then about 30 seconds later it would say "Call ended". That's it - same behavior every time.

Despite having both good internet conected wifi and 70-80% signal stregnth with "LTE" displayed, the phone would not dial out or receive calls through either medium. I went thru all the standard online debugging steps per Google. Did internet chat w/ Fi rep and after about an hour of debugging, resetting, rebooting, clearing caches, etc. etc. etc. got it to make VOIP calls only. Another hour and a half of debugging and it finally would place and receive a call over the local cell network as well.

Kudos to the Google Fi rep who stayed with this for 2.5 hours on chat by the way. Best fix clear Project Fi app cache, power off, pull SIM card, reinstall, reboot...

The fix was somewhat temporary and the problem partially returned pretty quickly. What it now sometimes does is refuse to make cell calls even if there is no internet available. If no internet it will still do the behavior described above of dialing, tone, disconnecting... If I have internet it will call out OK.

As of today it WILL dial out on cell if there is no internet available. But it's kinda shaken my confidence in depending on this phone. Anybody else experience a problem like this? Or might this have been a unique anomaly?

If you ever find yourself needing to diagnose a sick PC, one of the most useful tools is the Ultimate Boot CD. As the name implies, it's a complete bootable operating system (based on Linux, naturally) with a whole host of pre-installed troubleshooting tools for when your computer won't start up properly into its installed OS.

Just download Ultimate Boot CD and burn it to a CD or DVD disk. Then boot the unhappy computer from that CD to gain instant and direct access to all the useful tools. You can check CPU, memory and disk, and access the file system if you need to delete a dodgy file or driver that has been preventing Windows from starting normally.

And if the computer is so messed-up that a reinstall of Windows is the only option, Ultimate Boot CD lets you get at the documents on the computer so that you can copy them elsewhere before the reinstall.

Ultimate Boot CD is a 624 MB download. Is it malware-free? Almost certainly, but because it only ever boots directly into a separate Linux installation it doesn't actually matter. It's free. And it was last updated in September 2016, so if your existing version is older than a couple of months you should probably refresh it now, while you still have a working computer from which to do so. Verizon band 13 missing off V20

Hey all, been doing some research on bands and frequencies.

Now Verizons main band is band 13. Band 2 and 4 are basically support of some sort.

My question is. I have experienced some dropped calls on my phone. Most of them have worked themselves out.

But seeing as this phone does not have band 13. How big of a deal is it. It has bands 2 and 4. So obviously it will work right.

I'm just curious as to how important this missing band is.

When I recently bought my Iphone headphones (3 bands) it was working just okay no mess up, no glitches nothing. But when i used it yesterday it started to glitch out like it wanted to stop working. So when i clicked the center of the thing it made a 'Click' noise & i was able to talk okay. Now today it started to glitch out even more cutting me off from speaking to my group whilst i was talking. I freaked out press the center & nothing i tried voice memo without the headphones & it was okay but when i used it with the headphones nothing. I would kindly like your input on how i resolve this problem

As an android gadget junky, I've long wanted a pixel c

But a year from launch its still pretty expensive....and no micro sd slot or any expandable storage, its painful. I would see google not offering any expandable memory, but why is the highest on board storage only 64 gig? If it is suppose to be a laptop type replacement with those super experience keyboards...then...shouldn't it have more on board storage as an option?

And why is that model so expensive? Its a fine tablet and the software experience on noughat is top notch..but..

I can get the new asus s3 z10 tablet for $200 less and it includes fingerprint sensor and microsd slot. I know it won't have the buttery smooth pixel software or updates...but....

but how much is the premium of the google name these days? Does that explain the cost of the pixel phone and pixel tablet?

I wrote this after making a bad impulse purchase and getting the pixel. And using it side by side with the asus zenpad 9.7 s3 z10 or whatever the crazy name is...
The zen pad holds up pretty well and has an active stylus available (even if its not the best..)...

So the pixel c at nearly $700 has to go back....

Any rumors on a tablet refresh from google? Or are they getting out of the tablet side to focus on andromeda devices?

WiFi Priority?

Is there any way to put the WiFi Networks into any priority when it comes to connecting? I am sitting here, 5 feet from my downstairs router and my phone keeps trying to connect to the one upstairs, 35 feet away. I don't have any XFinity apps installed so I don't know why it tries to connect to it every time, even though it is the weakest signal. I don't want to forget it because if I go into a building with poor LTE there is always an XFinity network within reach.

Is Sim Only Contract Better?

I had a Note 4 ready to upgrade since August, I waited for the Note 7 but didn't upgrade right away, because first batches are always faulty. Now the Note 7 has been taken off the shelf. I had three choices.
1. End Contract.
2. Sim Card Only (20 GB Data, 1 year spotify/sky sports, unlimited calls/texts which also work abroad. Plus one more perk I can't remember but I remember I wouldn't use it. This lasts for 12 months.
3. Upgrade Phone.

I decided to go Sim Only because I'd rather pay £22.80 for now, instead of £47.80 (was £60 but I got it reduced because of where I work) for 24 months.

However, they didn't tell me I have to do Sim Only for 3 months. Once the 3 month period is, would you say it's best to just buy an S7 Edge, possibly, and stay on the Sim Only? Or would you say upgrade to a 24 month?

Explore The Sky With This Stunning Planetarium Suite

Stellarium is a complete Windows application that lets you explore the components of the night sky. Pan around the screen to control your virtual telescope to look at tens of thousands of planets and stars. The graphics are superb, the amount of information contained in the program is immense, and there's even a 300-page book included as a PDF file that will teach you everything you need to know about how to drive the program.

Stellarium can even be used to control a real telescope if you have one that's compatible, but it's still amazing fun if you don't.

The program is completely free and is a 160 MB download. It's malware-free according to the security software I use (it's too large for VirusTotal) and also Web of Trust.

On any computer, Stellarium is good. If you have a large screen, or even a projector, you're definitely in for a treat. Read More
